Default Visa rules 'causing anguish'

I wondered how long it would be until the media started putting the 'minimum earnings requirement for migrating non-EU nationals' in a bad light.

If they were that bothered they should stay where the "none allowed" parent is try to migrate from, I know I would if it meant staying with my daughter, sounds like another excuse to abuse the system

If ppl can't earn enough to support families, they shouldn't create them in the first place

Thought it'd be fun to make the thread and see what people say. If BBC let people comment on these stories I wouldn't have to bother but this is the next best thing for a discussion.
My opinion is pretty much what Blackie said, the priority should be to stay with your kid IMO and if you can't afford to provide for them then you shouldn't be moving them over.

It makes sense though... Why would you sponsor someone to bring them here, if you couldn't afford it? Clearly the only way they can, benefits, or they are going to work illegally once here..

I think the idea isn't just about earning a sufficient amount to support the family. It's also as it's proven income, it should therefore be taxed. This tax is deemed a fair payment for services received in the UK (e.g. NHS...etc) for both the earner and the spouse.

Makes sense to me.
