X943LOF - 2000 VTR - Back In A Saxo After 5 Years
Bought an X Reg VTR after not owning a saxo for 5 years, came up at a steal of a price and couldn't resist it.
2000 Citroen Saxo VTR
87,000 miles
Needs a bit of work but is much better than I expected.
It has already been lowered on the back, torsion bar, front was lowered but was fitted with brand new standard springs before I bought it.
I purchased a set of wheels from a user on here and now its starting to look presentable.
Today was the first time to have a proper look at the car, no rust on any arches. Sills and jacking points are all perfect.
It's been fitted with brand new discs and pads on the front, rear discs seem nearly new but pads are needed.
There's a few cosmetic issues that need sorting but parts are cheap so shouldn't be an issue.
I did find some rust on the n/s front where the wing and bumper meet, does anyone know if this is something can be changed?
Should I be worried come MOT time?
Let me know what you think guys, will be slow progress on this one as I work constantly and this is a second car but would be nice to get a few track days in this year.

Can anyone let me know if the rust is actually part of the wing and not the chassis. Fingers crossed that's the case. Thanks.

Hi Adam!
Good to see you back with a Saxo after such a long time. The part you require is so common to rot, It's a matter of cutting the old one off and welding in a new piece. Shouldn't be a failure but could depend on tester I guess.

Think I'm gonna go standard for now, keep things cheap. I can't really see the point in up rating unless I'm running more power.

probably worth checking the bumper mount on the other side aswell, paintwork looks to have come up quite well

Bumper mount is great on the other side, no issues. Looks good in pictures but is worse in person. I won't be happy until both wings, doors and bumpers are replaced. Bonnet and rear quarters are the only good bits on it

Few updates for you.
Parts arrived this week
50mm lowering springs
Clutch kit
Drive shafts
Gear linkages
Short shift
Air filter
Induction kit
Scorpion exhaust
Had the full day yesterday to get cracking, started like this due to the weather
Realised early on that I had some how lost my locking wheel nut. God knows where it's gone.
Managed to get a cheap air filter and exhaust fitted for now.
Managed to get hold of a gazebo that made life easier
Exhaust needs remounting, got some shorter hangers which will hopefully do the job.
Managed to get it de wipered as well.
Just a small amount of progress for now while I wait to get these nuts drilled out. Hopefully won't be long.
