Hi all ,

I am new to this forum and wondering if it still gets used much ? I’ve had my saxo vtr for close to a year now and I’m planning to keep hold of it. Is there any owners advice that I should know?

Not sure if the photos will show up below but if they do this is my blue saxo vtr , is pretty much original except a sound system which can be easily removed if the time comes to sell. Is it worth keeping these standard ? Or should I have fun and modify it like these cars were destined to be ?

Probably kicking a dead horse posting in 2024 but fed up of pop up Facebook car clubs full of finance warriors and pop bang remaps

Hey mate,

I guess this thing ain't done yet xD. I am a Saxo owner for 5 months now. I really don't think you'll be getting enough money for how fun this car is especially yours is VTR, mine is a standard one from '97 1.4 engine.

Thanks! I’m loving it so far , I’ve had a stress free owner ship for far apart from accidentally smashing the rear window at Christmas by over tightening the rear spoiler. I guess a ratchet was too big of a tool for the job!

My back box also rotted off yesterday but managed to get a close to oem replacement thankfully

I know what you mean by the fun factor, I simply cannot drive anywhere sensibly especially on backroads!

(sigh) F. it...

My car mechanicly is in great shape because the previous owners didn't push it that much and the man who sold me mine is a close family friend and a mechanic, he has been maintaining it for last 13/14 years. The only problem I personally have is stereo, speakers have been soaking at one point and sound like sh*t and radio is an old VW alpha, it's ok but you can hear that hasn't been nice to it. And 15 min ago i found out that old seat cloth on the door has been ripped so i guess i will try to find something similar or just paint is grey.

YES I AGREE, but to be fair I don't push it enough because I've spent all my "saving" so my parents would pay a fine if i got one (I am still a student at uni).

I have upgraded my speakers to jvc ones from eBay , they are fairly priced for the sound quality that you receive. Front speakers are very easy to do however the rear is very fiddly if it’s a 3dr as the whole door card practically needs to come out. At the time I also sprayed some lanoguard on the inner sills too just for piece of mind.

My cars had a good life from what I’ve been able to find, spending most of its time in Manchester opposed to the terrible weather up here in Scotland so underneath is pretty much immaculate. It’s had a minor bump in its life but I guess that’s to be expected from a car of this age, Nearly having a second last week as a van driver decided to drive right into the back of me in slow moving traffic but thankfully no damage at all to the car.

Oh I've seen them, there were some alpina speakers too...

Stereo upgrade will probably wait a couple of moths till I get a summer job, but now I am exploring possibilities. My friend installed Hertz speakers a month ago and put a active sub and it is the bomb, but I don't wanna overdo it.

Anyways I'm really happy this thing is still active, hope more people join.
I will take a picture of my Saxo and send it in couple of days. Keep me informed on progress of restoring stuff, I am interested.

See ya Mate!
