Default Scratches...!

Guys,

This is for my Dad. He has a Ford Mondeo in Black.

Yesterday, he had some bird muck on the bonnet, so he got a jug of water and went to wash it off, but he didn't come off fully, so then he tried to rub it off BUT they must of been gravel in the muck - so now it's made a few scratches on his bonnet.

'Presuming' they ain't too deep, whats he best to use? It's companies car, but he treats it like his own so he his quite gutted about it.

Cheers for any help in advance,
Luke

Well I have claybar, so i'll probably do that for him.

I think he tried some wax first of all, but no luck. Do you think the AutoGlym Super Resin polish is ok to use?

Agree with T-Cut, it's poo!

I'll tell him to get that then, I just hope they ain't too deep.

So if I clay bar it, then scratch x it and then polish/wax it. Reckon that will work?

Ok thanks, I'll give it a try later when weather brightens up as the bonnet is full of rain at moment.

Clay bar not needed, you've got a sub-surface defect, not bonded surface contamination. T-Cut won't do it, and will make matters worse. Megs Scratch-X may do it, but it's not a great product. Menzerna Intenisve Polish may do it, and is easier to use than Scratch-X and finishes better. BUT - chances are the damage is too deep to correct by hand. Here's some pics of an STI bonnet I was asked to fix after suffering the same problem (rubbing off a bird crap with a paper towel!)... I had to end up compounding it hard by machine to correct the problem.

Before

After
