Should i get a k&n or a piper cross induction kit i want it more for the sound than performance so which ever sounds the best, also can you put a dump valve on a 1.6i vtr? and would you recommend doing so, i want one that makes a good sound not too much noise just right, what do you recommend also what benefit would there be having a custom exhaust system?

K&N are quality kits, as are piperX. So i don't think there is much between them.
You can't fit a dump valve as the engine is normally aspirated, they can only be fitted to engnie with a Turbo. They release pressure or something, someone else will know more than me about that.
The benefit of a custom exhaust is that you have choose which tailpipes you have and how many, also the bore of the centre pipe which means you can choose how loud you want it to be. You will also probably get the best power gains from a custom exhaust.
Hope that helps you.

magnex exhausts are excellent. I have the full system and decat and all fits perfectly and sound good, not to loud.
Most people will tell you the same about them as well
and the best PROVEN exhaust is the GMC/BTB effort but its certainly not cheap

I got a pipercross, real loud, sounds great and real good rasp when reving. also got a full magnex system. Excellent quality but thats what you expect from the name, and sounds great especially with the filter evens the sound out. Exhaust sounds especially good on the raz.

LMFBO! © sax-p!
thats what makes a good exhuast is how loud it is??
Fair enough if you want to make loads of noise go for a custom made one and spend silly amounts of money when you could buy a loud one off the shelve like scorpion or piper or ashley

Id have to agree with deano there id rather have a custom exhaust not just cos of the sound tho! where i got my back box fitted they said they'd just fitted a magnex system to a pug 206 ( i no not a saxo) but they said it wasnt anything special!!! I suppose its also up to your own opinion to!!!
