Default Cars got a mind of its own!

only started doing this today, after doing about 200miles, (so the engine was hot), when im at about 2k the revs go up and down between 2k and 3.5k on there own, anyone had this?

its a mk1 1litre

mine can do this when on idle but i'm guessin it's just a dirty sensor or something along those lines!

yes i had this problem it was the stepper motor,i tried cleaning it but it didnt work fairly cheap to replace!

I had same problem with mine, revs on its own etc. Took it to garage stil under warranty and got it sorted, it would have been £75 quid i think but like i say, stil under warranty so got it done for nowt.

had a very similar prob with my vtr, there is a great thresd you should check out mate, its got photos and diagrams for the sensor that prob needs cleaned/replaced. check it out, its on the engine/performance threads, second on the list........
