HELP! I picked up my Y-reg saxo on Sat afternoon and last night on the way home i had the "engine auto-diagnosis" light came on and stay on for the remainder of the journey. it says in the citroen handbook that if it comes on there is a fault within the fuel injection, ignition or anti-pollution systems. Also when the car is idling if i tap the accelerator lightly the car wont idle - the needle just bobs up and down and the car almost stalls. does anyone have any ideas??

when the light comes on does the car seem to have no power? My cars a Y reg also and all these things sound kinda familiar... its happened twice to me since getting the car in the summer. If u leave the car and come back to it a bit later its alrite but still its strange!

get it to citreon and get them to put it on the diagnositc machine to clear any codes or to see if there are any underlying problems. Sounds like it maybe the lambda sensor though

lambda sensor is in the exhaust, it reads your exhaust gases to see if the mix of fuel/air is correct.

On mk1 this is in the downpipe, and on mk2 with the cat in manifold there are two, one before and one after the cat.

If the sensor is dead or faulty then the ecu will be getting strange signals from it causing it to compensate/decompensate fuel/air thus causing the bad idle and hesitation.

Though it may not be the lambda sensor but it is quite common that it is
