Default Schreeching noise when Gear change?

Got a V reg 1.1 saxo, as a first car its great. Problem is sometimes when i change gear i get a schreeching sound when pressing clutch pedal. Horribly annoying noise and need to get it sorted, any clues as to:

a) what is wrong?
b) how to fix it?

Thankful for help!

could be your clutch release bearing or a worn pressure plate
sounds like the release bearing especially as it does it when the clutch is depressed, would need the gearbox out to have a look

does it disapear when you press the clutch in?

if so it will be you thrust bearing in the gearbox, common fault and i would recommend getting it sorted asap, mine went after i left it for months, ended up getting towed home lol

its a gearbox out job, so if your handy with the spanners, have a go. a bit fiddly but not to hard to do. get a haynes manual, takes you thro it step by step.

part is only a few quid from citroen.

or a good garage could do it for you.

hope that helps?
