Default Gearbox and clutch

Does anyones car go into gear without the clutch down obviouslt when the car is not running it just slips straight in any ideas if this is normal or do i either have a buggered clutch or the gearbox is buggered but it does seem to slip a little when i put the power down.

My old car used to go into gear without clutch down but only with engine off, havent tried on saxo. Dont think it should go into gear without using clutch when engine is on. I did that by accident the other day and it just crunches, not a nice sound.
