WOW you must live in a war zone for insurance prices like that.
did you get your quotes through money supermarket or similar,or just straight from the insurer?

Yeah, elephant are cheap!!! Try yescarinsurance.co.uk see if they can help.
Have you got anybody who could insure it for you, and have you as a named driver?? Cos some policys recognise the named drivers now and you could still earn your no claims bonus. Just a thought anyway

How old are you?
How long have you been driving?
How many years N.C.B. do you have (if any)?
How many claims have you had within the last three years (if any)?
How many convictions have you had within the last five years (if any)?

£15k!?! WTF! There are a couple of young(ish) drivers insured on VTS's on Sax-p and they're only paying £1,500 (max.) so how can they justify another £13k on top if you're 17 (i.e. just passed your test)? I didn't think insurance companies would even give you a price. Thought they'd just tell you NO.

Why do you want a VTR? Why not start off with a 1.1 and work your way up? A 1.4 would be better. I would never consider paying that sum of money on a 1.6 8v.
