Last week i made up a few custom brackets etc to fit my pipercross venom (universal version of the viper) properly as i was fed up with it flopping about all over the place and getting scratched and dented!
So i decided to take a few pics of what i was doing incase it came in usefull to anyone.
I started off using flexi metal pipe for the cold air feed and ran it to where the original feed is and used a cable tie to hold it there, but after a quick run up the road it had already split in two places! By a few days later it had split completley and was no longer attached to the airfilter so i just ran the car with no feed at all for a week or two. It was poorly made and cheap looking, like a piece of tin foil. so about as much use as a chocolate fire gaurd.
I then came across the correct cloth type pipe that usually comes with a viper, so i decided to buy it and start agen. Its not the cheapest stuff in the world cost me £30 for a meter or so. When i got home from the shop i ran it down to my fog light but after reading a few threads on here and having a lot of rain the day after i decided against it.
I came up with an idea that the best thing to do would be to bolt a bit of metal tube to my slam pannel to hold the pipe and draw air in through the grill by placing it where the secondary bonnet catch goes. Seemed a good idea at the time but when i finished i realised the catch acctually blocks up most of the hole! But im leaving in there for now untill i cut another hole next to it and move the bracket along a bit.

I rummaged through our skip at work (not for the 1st time!!) and found a piece of exhaust off of a 7.5ton truck which was the perfect diameter.
I then made up a cardboard template of how i wanted it to be and sketched it on to the pipe, cut it to make a scoop then welded it to another piece of the exhaust. I mounted it on the slam panel by welding a small rectangle piece of sheet metal on to the side of the pipe then drilled a hole in it to bolt where the original air box feed did.

Once i had the cold air feed all sorted i then moved onto a mounting bracket.
I started by cutting a rectangular piece off of a plate of sheet metal, then shaped it using a large piece of tube i had and a pannel beating hammer.
Fitted like a glove, first time!
I then made up two brackets using the same sheet metal as before, one bolted on by gearbox-bellhousing bolt and the other to a hole in the bracket a lot of the wiring is attached to.

Next i welded another piece to the bottom of the curved piece the filter sits on
I used a bit of my draw liner from my tool box and stuck it to the curved piece to stop the filter getting damaged and also cut the piece welded on down to an inch and drilled a hole in it ready to be bolted to the supports.
Then i realised i had no way of attaching the filter to the bracket so decided to weld a small piece of metal on the side to put sum kind of strap or clip under then around the filter.

Here are a couple of it all bolted up, sorry about the quality it was starting to rain and get dark!
I couldnt find a jubilee clip or anything similar that was large enough so went for the good ol cable tie for now! I cut a piece of rubber to go under the cable tie to stop it from slipping about or damaging the filter.
Now thats what you call a cable tie!! Have had some bad experiences with them at work!
The last pic of it all fitted, only problem i now have is that the filter doesnt sit quite squarely on the braket as i need to get some smaller diameter flexi pipe and get rid of the rubber elbow.
Sorry theres so much to read! But hopefully it will help a few of you out and give you some ideas.
