Also are the boxes meant to sound like theyve got sandpaper in em when your in neutral? only in netral but it makes this grinding noise when you move the stick about, all my car minded mates say its a common issue with saxos

the sound it makes when in neutral, grinding noise is the gearbox input shaft bearing

Sounds expensive, the cars got a very good warranty but how much is this bearing likely to cost to buy and fit?

mate its not so much the bearing, i think there around a few quid but the labour is the expensive bit

i had my clutch and a refurb box put in so its definately not the release bearing, read it up in a Haynes manual and it diagnosed the problem as the shaft bearing, i also got a few opinions from different meachanics and they say same

Cheers, rep left, blob added. Is this one of those annoying issues or one of those things thats likely to get worse and destroy other parts? Cause if it is ill get it sorted out on warranty

mine makes that grinding noise sometimes when its in neutral. and the gearstick only started sounding squeaky because once it was really stiff and wouldn't go into 1st gear so i pushed it as hard as i could then it started lol
