150bhp-180bhp is probally the most a front wheel drive Saxo would be happy to cope with and still be enjoyable to drive at slower speeds and at home on the track.

have you driven a fwd car with more power? 200bhp is effortless to drive with the right engine, I agree on the last comment though

SAAB say about 230bhp is about max for a bog standard road car. But we are not driving standard cars so you can easily build a car that has less compromise in comfort but can handle the greater stresses of a high power engine.
High quality tyres, top notch suspension and a few other tweaks will get you a chassis that can lay down the power far better than someone who has spunked all his money on an engine.
Do you need 300bhp? Well if you are going to race on a drag strip then maybe, but move the competition to a proper track and you could beat him with 150bhp with the right setup.
