Petrol or Oil leak?!?
Hi, i just got home from work, the vts was fine coming back, and awhile later my mom went outside and noticed what looks like petrol leaking from the car. I got on my hands and knees to look under the car,but cant see any leaking,im assuming if it was petrol it would be leaking from the rear? And if it was oil, it would be from the front? Ive looked in the engine bay and look ok. I aint got a clue about mechanics, so just wondered if i could get any help. Oh and for some reason my car alarm keeps on going off many thanks for ur help

does it smell like petrol?
open the bonnet and look around for where oil/petrol might be. if it looks like its leaked anywhere
also start your engine see if its spraying out anywhere
and check your sump just incase

the button on your dash, next to your hazard button, hold it in til the red light comes on then lock your car with the fob

Right i started the engine, left it running for awhile, seemed ok in the engine bay, but im sure it seemed to be leaking from underneath,i guess where the gearbox would be... Would it be gearbox fluid/oil,or whatever it is? Or is that where the sump is also located? When u say have a real good look around, you refering to the engine bay? I could have another look, but im useless with car stuff I may try jacking it up tomorrow, but as its lowered,i will have great difficulty! Many thanks for your help, much appreciated!

Cheers Dan, just done it now! Is the ultrasonics to do with the interior only? I mean how will this affect the alarm now?

have you had it running or been out in it, as it could just be fuel leaking out of the line thats actually in the line if you catch my drift with the engine started the fuel pump will run fuel through the line and then you might be able to find the leak, where exactly was it leaking back of the car front of the car??

Front of the car, looked like in the middle,i guess where the gearbox would be. See i couldnt see any petrol in the road, where i had driven before getting home,so im guessing it started when i was on the drive. I had engine running, but aint took it out since. Could it just be a leak in the fuel line? What about sump? Would that release fluid if damaged? Cheers for ur help Predator

yes mate if the sump is damaged it will leak oil, could be a gasket theres a lot on the car, you really need to get a look under the car to have a proper look to see where exactly its coming from

I had a leak dripping from the front drivers side of my saxo, couldnt smell petrol or oil,so after investigating i noticed the clip to the radiator hose had come off causing the hose to drop and it was rubbing against metal, therefore causing a small hole in the hose and as the rad warmed up it made the water drip out more.Never know it might be a simple thing like that

Right, i took my car to Citroen garage, just so they could tell me what it was... Anyways turns out it it the power steering pipe, cause its lowered it was rubbing and is now leaking, well it was,but now ive ran out of power steering fluid! See as the car was lowered at R-tec you would have thought they would have bent the pipe, seeing as it a common thing on the phase 2. Anyways, should have the pipe from citroen on thursday and get it fitted elsewhere thursday evening! Then i gotta get my suspension sorted
Thanks for everybodies help!!!
