Default Clicking / Tapping on corners / reverse..

Hi all...
Recent problem started occuring, where i turn the steering on a bend, and a get a constant clicking sound till the wheel is straight again.
Wasn't really sure what it was, so carried on use, as it also knocks once when stationary / slow moving near full lock.
Now every now and then when i reverse, its almost like theres some resistance on something, and it clicks / clunks quite loud (Not every time though)...
Any ideas?

Its a pain in the arse, but needs doing!
Cheers

Yeah most do that - wasn't overly worried about that.
Its the constant clicking round bends / corners now, and the clunk / click in reverse, almost like there's some resistance!

well if you car is lowered then it could be rubbing on the inside of the wheel arches but my sisters done the same but she had some crap that was stuck behind her wheel rubbing against the calipers

Its lowered, though this hasn't seemed to be a problem until recently, will double check there's nothing rubbing though!

Check the cv boots mate.I had a really bad clicking noise on mine.Filled it with grease and it was ok. Or it could be the drive shaft

Looked at the boots when the driveshafts were off when the engine was done, and they looked good, no splits or anything - was going to do them anyway but they look a bastard to do compared to usual, they were like all sealed in?

alrite fella, sorry to break this down to you, but this clicking when turning is usual quite aggresive and causes the car to jolt, in my opinion its more than likely the gearbox differential, you can try new shafts but im 100% sure it the diff, new box basically

an easy way to test the diff is to jack the car up (both wheels front end) put it in neutral and turn one wheel, it should turn freely without the wheel on the other side moving, if theres any resistance or clicking, then its the diff (planetry gears)

Well its not so bad if its that, as i have a spare box anyway luckily...
Hopefully its not that though, be a bit of a pain!
The clicking doesn't seem to be that agressive or make the car jolt though!
Thanks
David

The bearings may be going on top of the front strut.

Yeah thats possible, i know they weren't great when the car was lowered, wouldn't cause the knocking in reverse though would it?

Cause it no matter which way you going. Does It get worse the more you turn the wheel?

Seems to do it both ways, though i think its more if i turn left hand down...
not 100% though, could be the other way.
Doesn't seem to get any worse as i turn further, just clicks faster the faster i'm moving... obviously really lol

Check the bearings on top on the struts and make sure you wheels aint catching on anything. If that isnt it maybe you should get someone to have alook at it. But check yourself because you don't want to pay someone to do a little jiobs which you could of done yourself.

Let us know how you get on.

How do i get to the bearings on the top of the struts?
The Reverse thing sounds more like the exhaust knocking, though there must be a reason for it...
If i get the revs up and some slight speed (5mph?) the juddering and clonking in reverse goes away!

I believe you will have to take the strut out to get to the bearings. Bit of a pain I know, But if it is the bearings you can pick them up from the likes of EK Breaks.

Suppose if i need the strut off to check them then i might aswell just replace them while its apart? Make more sense really!
French bearings are shite, got 2 wheel bearings that have seen better days! lol
