no all the VTS models came with a 120 bhp engine
well some models abroad are called a VTS but have a 1.4 16 valve engine

Citroen have never advertised a 130bhp Saxo so in theory that is the answer to the question.
However, have a read of this.......
"With the impending L4 emissions regs coming in, the head and management was redesigned. As a consequence of the management changes and emissions control, the idea was that the engine would need to be slightly reworked to keep 120bhp. But the crossover period meant that some reworked head engines were released with older, less emissions strict management. Hence the small power increase.
It flows about 6% more than an earlier head; an increase which, applied to 120bhp, brings it to 127.2bhp.
All a myth? incorrect, its FACT that the heads flow more, so in theory, with correct fuelling and mapping, will make more power as standard"

there was a difference in the head castings, though theres no proof or official line from citroen about any increase in power thats fact.

Was posted on this forum by a guy called Gabbastard the last time we discussed it and yes, you're right, it could be complete bollox for all I know!!
The only certain thing is that Citroen never sold/marketed what you would call a 130bhp standard Vts.

I don't know about all that... But here's something that IS a fact. Wayne Schofield from Chipwizards has been mapping 106/VTS's for a fair few years. What he's noticed is that the older lumps (the ones without the EGR valve) actually make on average 5bhp more from the same camshaft upgrade and re-map compared to the newer models. This is fact, and has always been the case. The only difference they know of is the EGR valve, but it seems odd that this would be the root of the cause.

the older ones also have a single plug ecu, people reckon that has something to do with older vts slightly faster aswell
