de-cat pipe-how easy?? - Saxperience

Hey folks just wanted to ask anyone whos got a mk2 vtr cat in manifold if they have done a de-cat on it.think im going to do this to mines soon but just wondered how easy it is to do?thanks

get a GMC manifold and wack it on, simple as mate. just remember to get a sleve for your lambda sensor

wouldnt de-cat as have to change manifold every mot time, imo get janspeed with sports cat will sound nearly as good and dont have to mess on with sensor sleeves.
But if do want to de-cat it, then i would agree go for a gmc make sure its the one where you dont have to move the oil filter wouldnt risk the hassle of a raceland manifold tbh

no just a new manifold will de-cat it! but will fail mot

ahh i see i thought you could buy a de-cat pipe that just went in place of the cat.thats not to bad then was reading up on the other thread about which manifolds to go for but GMC looks the favourite.take it a 4-2-1 is what i'd be after so i wouldn't have to do the oil filter relocation??

4-1 mate dont think gmc do a 4-2-1, gmc are excellent build quality but will have to change the manifold every mot time, so unless ur good with your hands or made of cash i would go for a manifold with sports cat!
But suppose then its not de-catin but richies sounds awesome with the janspeed on!

DONT GET A RACELAND AND BODGE JOB IT

if you get a manifold for a mk1 engine then yes you will need to relocate the oil filter

mechanic anyways so if i keep hold of the old manifold and cat then it shouldnt be a problem changing it over for mot.only once a year anyways.think i'll need to invest in a new manifold and a gmc by sounds of it.thanks guys

if thats the case get a sports cat from janspeed makes sense

But even then the sports cat sounded

plus cant see point in buy new cat for standard and spending a load on a manifold but i am a tight bastard......

For quality i reccommend the gmc though!

best pm'ing richie2104vtr my mate we fitted his, think was around £300 but sure a gmc is £280.....

best bet is holding out and getting 2nd hand

Raceland is the cheap way out but dont think it will last long with moving the oil filter!
