Spax springs

My sax is being lowered on wednesday dropping by 40mm with the torsion bar to match...

How good are these springs? as im only lowering by 40mm I decided not to get a full kit inc dampers etc but was this a good move lol, and finally how much is the ride and handling compromised?

Ive heard that if your not going lower than 40mm, theres not too much to worry about as the height adjustment doesnt put that much stress on the orignal parts so hopefully everything should be fine

Only wondering as my mate had his sax dropped 60mm and had a lot of driveshaft probs, hes since had it raised

Apparently the spax springs are quite good for handling but the ride quality are poor mate. depending on the state of your original dampers you may want to start thinking about uprating these if you are going down 40mm, personally i would uprate them but that really depends on what you want from your car, you shouldnt really have any trouble with your driveshafts either.

i have them, ok for ride comfort! depends on how hard you push the car! there a bit to soft for pushing to the limit, make my car understeer, just fitted lower strut brace and thats now gone!

yer heard the spax are a bit soft of performance but are still ok. a lower strut may help you alot

i lowered my car 40mm on Apex springs
just made the ride a little firmer.
no difference in comfort...


PS, if you want comfort in first place, dont drive a Saxo

If you stiffen the front shocks but do nothing to the rear to match (ie replace torsion bars) then your car will understeer more than standard.
Try Eibach Pro-kit if you want a lower car with a good ride. These are designed to be used with standard shocks. they wont be the stiffest shocks but they certainly wont ruin the handling.

If i notice anything dratic ill give the eibach's a try but in the mean time a lower strut brace may help, roll on wednesday!

cant rate mine enough

the spax are not bad unless really pushing it! fine for pottering and pushing it a bit but if really going for it the body roll was bad and didnt feel safe, now got lower strut and clues to the road and is fun again
