Question Battery's packed up, advice please!

My girlfriend was driver our Saxo to work this morning and the battery packed up. The lights turned off and the windscreen wipers slowed down to a stop. Luckly she was close to work cos it's pissing it down here in Worcester. I have two questions: 1. she drove through some large puddles on the way to work, could the battery getting wet cause it to stop working? 2. If we need to get a new battery roughly how much is that going to cost, we have a Saxo Open Scandel, I think it's a small engine around 0.8 - 1 L.

if she drove thro large puddles , and it stopped working ,, its most probs a bust alternater . or water could have fused the electrics out,, check the fuse box.. a new battery for a saxo would probs cost 20-30 quid maybe,,

check the connections on the battery are on properly

make sure the earths on the battery and alternator are on properly

get the battery and alternator tested

but like you said if she drove through some puddles just let it dry out and try again

also check all the fuses
