Halfords have to pay for maintaince of the buildings and pay their non-trained staff.
internet sites have comparitively tiny overheads in comparision...
Despite this Halfords have huge buying power and so usually buy things much cheaper than their internet rivals...
Halford just have stupid margins on stuff. Honestly the upper managment must know that most people wouldnt go there if there was a decent alternative.

no mate where i used to work they are alpine dealers and they are told if they get found out to be selling alpine new and cheap on ebay there account will be closed. They think that people shaging there products out on the net will cheapen and distroy there reputation.

Everytime I have been into halfords for a few parts like tools or stuff like that they have been completely useless. Also when went in looking at alloys, they nicely lost my details and was also no use for any information.

to be fair most staff don't really have a clue. the pro tools are some of the best tools on the market for the price

Halfords sell to people that are too stupid to look around so they can charge what they want and a lot of people (chavs) will pay it. And yeah the staff suck, i asked for some 4 gauge power cable once, he took me to a vauxhal corsa wiring loom and walked off

Halfords wanted just under £650 for my HU. I told them where to stick it seeing as i could get it for HALF that price elsewhere. (Pioneer DEH-P9800BT)
