Default power steering failure on mot?????

power steering isnt operative!

when bought the car a few weeks ago worked every now and again.... now stoped completely no buzzing noise nothing no fuses are blown?

what do i need to check before i go and buy a new pump?? (priced between £250-£300 new, good job was sat down at time on the phone!)

thanks

PS pump is a commen prob on saxos pain in the ass lol mine failed whilst goin around a huge ass roundabout lol was tug of war i tell you i got home and after some rather cheese but awesome advice.

i hit the pump with a hammer and hte dam thing works better now then it originally did lol

think it was crap that built up in it i also topped my fluid up to .

you should be able to get a PS pump from a scrapyard for way cheaper but remember you pay for what you get at those places.

so its best for you to buy one brand new then you know if its faulty you can send it back .

hmmm i dont know tbh i looked in my haynes manuel for yah and it says FK ALL tbh lol dont even tell you which fuse is what lol.

id say its a pump refit tbh better safe then sorry the brown wires i think are the ones coming from the bump in one plug if im right trace the wires and just check to see if they aint slashed anywhere just to be on the safe side .

You can pass your MOT with a broken pump. As long as it isn't leaking, they don't test if it's actually working (or if they do, it's not a fail)

the only other thing it failed on to do with steering is an insecure gaitor (cable tie missing) i got told it didnt come into the mot hence why i left it and didnt bother! may quible it with him but got other things to sort my £200 vtr is now more like £1000+ lol oh wel

do your blowers work, and rear heated screen, if not its your ignition barrel, where the wires connect it becomes faulty the cheap solution which i did, is to cut the two brown wires which go to the ignition and connect them together, this by-passes the switch, so as soon as u put the key in the barrell it makes the connection and power is there. pm if u need more info.
