Question MK2 VTS De-Cat Question

I have a magnex de-cat pipe to go on the old girl, however it doesnt have the hole for the sensor to go in.

1st Question
De-catin does it make a lot of difference?

2nd Question
Will the engine line always be on the dash

3rd Question
Do i just leave the sensor dangling or?

I have heard about those sleeves but surely that would just leave the light on?

Cheers
Steve

Tut tut Steve, this has been covered sooo many times before. However, I will try to answer your 3 questions, because I'm in a good mood!

1) Yes, it's worth doing if you are looking to get as much power out of your engine as possible. Due to the restrictions in exhuast gasses that the CAT causes, you'll find that without it, your power will open a bit more towards the top end.

2) I pressume you mean "engine light?" ...The reason the 'engine check' light would become illuminated on the dash, is because the oxygen sensor which sits after the CAT will see that the CAT is not doing its job properly. You can fool this sensor by taking it out of the system completely, away from any exhaust gasses, and it won't report back to the ECU about the CAT being problematic.

3) No! The sleeve is for a reason. For the oxygen sensor to take readings, it needs to heat up to a rather high temperature. If you left it hanging around, it could burn something, or even set fire to your car! It needs to be well protected also, as these sensors are quite delicate.

didnt really plan on de-catin today
But couldnt get magnex centre to fit the cat so de-catted it, just unplugged the sensor, how long for the light to come on as it isnt on yet
Wotn fek my car having that light on will it?

Exhaust isnt sitting to good either points down a bit, should sort itself once lowered plus was getting tired of playing around with it, so looks a bit shit but sounds alright!

Answers number 2 and 3. Stop trying to be difficult. You could clearly see I spent some time trying to help on this thread, and you obviously pissed on my efforts. Perhaps I shouldn't bother in future...

That's correct, it shouldn't drive any differently, as that sensor is specifically for telling the ECU the condition of the CAT.
