My First Saxo Advice
Hi guys
not sure if am posting in the right section but never mind lol
I haven't yet got my own saxo, but my problem is I have to have a 1.1 otherwise i cant afford the insurance but i prefer the way the furios look so what would be best to buy a furio and put a 1.1 engine in or buy a 1.1 an put the body off a furio onto it?

definately put the body panels onto the 1.1. otherwise you would have to declare an engine swap etc. which will be more expensive than exterior mods insurance wise!

In the forsales you need either 100 posts or buy premium, if there non going I've got most of a kit forsale cheap just needs door panels

buy a furio, it comes with the vt bodykit and spoiler (sometimes) as standard which will save a whole load of hassel. Also the later furios have better interiors than 1.1's. You will also benefit from powersteering and electric windows.
tbh if it were me, i wouldnt even declare doing an 8valve engine conversion. You could quite easily drop and 1.6 vtr engine in a furio or 1.1 and it would look identical to the original engine, so no one has to know

I had the same issue to begin with, I have a 1.1 and the insurance for me is still colossal. I am about to finish a years first NCB, however I have my MoT in Jan and I just know it won't pass! Pretty pissed tbh, my advice would be to take that into consideration, the level of work needed for example.

HydroThunder - Ive been thinking about all the work but im planning on trying to find a decent one thats going to last a while witch is why i would buy a decent furio but i dont know how to do engine swaps.

I wouldn't even bother putting bits of plastic on a standard motor, just keep it clean and original if its a first car cause it keeps a fair good value and if you crash it with loads of mods on its only wasted your time and money..
The moral of this is be sensible, get a couple of years NCB and get a proper car a little later. I know that sounds boring and crap but be worth while!

Will there be much difference in insurance once you declare the vt bodykit on the 1.1? You might find it's better to just buy the furio.

Depends on your age, driving experience and how mod friendly the insurer are.
To the OP, get a quote on both cars (1.1 and 1.4) and work out the difference.
If you can't afford it then that narrows down you're choice to a 1.1
The ring up the insurer and ask how much to add a bodykit, if you can afford the increase then take out the premium.
If you can't stick with the 1.1 without the kit.
Easy as that
