Been offered cams (any good?)
Piper 285 Ultimate road cams
heres the spec of the cams on pipers website.
(Approx 285° duration)
Power band - 3000‑7500
20BHP increase in power
Duration inlet 264°
Duration exhaust 260°
Full lift
Inlet 0.396″ 10.06mm
exhaust 0.380″ 9.65mm
Timing 22‑62 & 64‑16
Lift inlet ATDC110° Exhaust BTDC 114°
Lift at Top dead centre -

These any good? and will they actually fit my vts engine?

There not the best cams in the world but for 100 quid I'd say there were a bargain.

would i be worth holding out and getting something better for more money? i'm not desperate for more power and don't mind spending money if it makes a difference?

piper are good cams, theyre one of the most expensive brand
as for the spec theyre pretty good tbh, not as wild as ph3's but the difference is minimal, near enough 708 spec
buy the tbh, even if you dont fit them you could easily make £50-100 on them

I've got them in my car, seem good tbh, makes good power. Also got a mapped ecu for them for sale  locked though

they will run fine unmapped with a good power gain, be better mapped though

theyre slightly more in duration and a tiny bit less lift than 708s. Theyll run without a remap, but you want to remap to make it worth it.

I'll save for the map after then  as long as there safe to run and will gain at least some power from dropping then in i'm happy

You should fit new lifters with the cams,otherwise standard internals are fine.
That said, I know people who have fitted cams with old lifters and still had really good results, nothing to suggest they were badly affected.

i ran them in my old engine with abit of head work had 163.7 atf so not a bad power increase
