Default what a headache :(

So I got my boy this 2001 Saxo Furio and set about finding insurance,
I could only find a telematic box policy which is being fitted tomorrow Monday after 12,

THIS is where the fun starts............

Rear lights changed for OE ones and...Wheels, TSW Tigers (I think) 16" fitted with 195/45/16's.

Another set of wheels fitted with 185/55/14 sought but Red

Original size should be 165/65/14.

A short bodge job later

Tada Silver (I'm going to strip and repaint them properly after the box fitment.)

ah ha job done...........

OH NO IT'S NOT as I've now found out there are 2 types of wheel and guess we have early ones with flat face bolts...

the bolts we have.... yep you guessed it 60 degree tapered bolts.

oh and they inspect the car before fitting the box and charge £45 for a wasted call out

Which company is this?

I highly doubt they would be checking for the correct wheel bolts lol. I doubt they'd even notice the lights....

I think you'll be fine.

Ingenie, I know someone who is already insured with them and he says the guy who fitted his spent an hour looking over the car, even removed the air filter to check it was standard ffs.

Get your self down to a scrapyard first thing Monday. Shouldn't be to hard to get hold of a set of bolts.

should have checked with the insurance before acquiring the car.

If I don't like the bread, I find another baker. I can't believe there's only one company out there who's going to insure you after checking every nut and bolt, next stop:

I did, what I didn't realise until the policy was taken out is how keen they were on inspecting the car.

I also didn't realise that there would be 2 versions of the same wheel.

I thought I would have more time to sort things but you have to have the box installed within 10 days, when I went to book the fitting I only got 2 dates so chose the latest one I could which was only 5 days away.

However I have found these http://www.raceways.co.uk /Peugeot_conversion_washers_for_OE_wheels_pre_2000_ to_fit_longer_bolts.htm which according to the website is a residential address only about 6 miles away so I only hope there stock is local.

Sorry I'll rephrase that: should have fully checked with the insurance before acquiring the car

Most Furio's came with steel wheels - the optional ones weren't the Vtr ones!

So the saga continues...

Sourced some bolts last night arranged to collect at 10.30 this morning which was achieved. Arrived home 11.10 am and set about the task.

Nsr wheel changed no problem so on to the nsf and arrrggghhh feckin wheel stuck on so off to get my BFH wheel removed and changed.

On to osf wheel, changed no problem, osr wheel feckin stuck so BFH came out to play again so job done in in the hands of the gods now or rather the insurance gods box fitter/car inspector.

eta 12-1.30pm watch this space......

Before

After

would it not be worth paying a touch more on the insurance to not have this aggro?
