Sealant/undercoat for chassis? *** New Question - Post 22 ***
Realised today that with the work i'll be doing on the VTS over the summer, the majority of the underside of the car will be exposed, so i figured i might as well get some protection on there whilst its easy
I'm wondering what you guys use for it though?
I was thinking Hammerite but i don't know if it would stand up to the constant attack from pressure washing/salt and road grime/stone chips?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
James

When your doing it make sure you leave all the drain holes clear of Waxoyl/sealant otherwise the water gets in has knowhere to escape & rots the metal.

Question for anyone who has used Waxoyl...
How did you apply it?
Apparently it should be used with the Waxoyl high pressure sprayer but thats 18 quid , anyone tried/done theres with a paint brush/roller?
James

You have the liquidy type one, that's what i assume they use a sprayer with
The one i was on about is like a tin of tar, that just gets splatted all under the car (wear gloves)

You can just brush it on but like olly said get it warm so it us easier to apply. The sprayer just makes it look very neat. They do black waxoyl which looks great and hides a million sins.

On my old Saxo, i just used old engine oils, diesel and brushed it on. (obv wire brushing the loose rust off first)
After a few weeks the dust and shit stuck to it and made a protective barrier. Water and oil don't mix
