Vtr engine into my furio.
I'm thinking of putting a vtr into my furio since I can get the vtr pretty cheap! Just wandering what parts from the furio can I use so I don't buy things I didn't need. Also can someone give me some information on electrics like do I need to change the ecu? I have a Clifford alarm in my furio will this make things a bit awkward?
Everyones knowledge on a vtr conversion would be great! Just so I know what to expect!

make sure you get a three plug ecu, loom and engine and everything will be straight forward, obviously the ecu will have to be un-locked
iirc the brakes/suspension on a furio are the same to a vtr/s and you can use the furio gearbox/drive shafts so to do it on the cheap you will basically need the engine block complete and the ecu and loom to run it easyyyy but if you wanted to make a better job of it would be ideal to buy a new clutch/timing belt while its out the car
And for some better acceleration you could fit a vts/rallye/xsi gear box and a long with some new drive shafts the car should be pretty reliable, might even be a good idea to get a good suspenion kit, uprated bushes and a 266mm brake upgrade, as power is nothing with out control and all that, if you did all this you'd have your self a nice furio mate

I have no experience with aftermarket ecus but this is what I know about doing the conversion on a standard car.
You need the vtr engine from a car the same age car as your own, being a furious I'm going to guess it will be the type that has a 3 plug ecu. As well as the engine you'll need the ecu and engine bay loom.
You can use your gearbox and driveshafts and exhaust.
The vtr ecu will need to be either unlocked, or you'll have to get the key chip and immobiliser box from the car the engines from

Jesus that was a quick reply I have drilled and grooved disk brakes on the car already and lowered and stiffed suspension. So my shopping list is
Ecu
Engine
Engine loom
Optional extras
Gearbox/driveshafts
I'll post a pic up of my saxo as I am new to all this.

No offence by why swap an R lump its not exactly upgrade of the century for a furio. If you going to go through the hassle of conversion do the S.

.
Vts engines are hard to find in northern Ireland and alot more expensive that's why I'm only sticking a vtr in and I like the way it looks it's unique . I also plan to do a mod or 2 b4 I drop engine in. If I unplug the immob will that unlock my ecu so I don't need to buy a vtr ecu?

no hes saying to unlock the vtr ecu the immobiliser has to be pulled out while the vtr is running ie before the engine is removed or you send it away to be unlocked either way you need a vtr ecu
