Plans sound awsome mate Just out of interest how do you decide on what injectors to buy before anything's been built up?

Thanks mate !!

I've been using the following formula (Taken from a forced induction book) to get a rough guess:

Fuel flow: = (HP x K) / C

HP = max horsepower
K = 5.6 for forced induction engines OR 4.6 for NA engines
C = number of cylinders

Injector static flow = (TF x 100) / ( N x M)

TF = theoretical flow (from above)
N = Number of injectors per cylinder
M = Injector Duty Cycles

Therefore for me it is roughly as follows:

(350x5.6)/4 = 490

Then:

(490x100)/(1x80) = 613cc/min

I've gone for 630cc injectors so should cover me so I don't need to upgrade them halfway through mapping if things go better than expected etc.

I'm not sure how accurate this is but it seems to be on the right lines as the injectors I've just bought (630cc@3Bar) came off a car built by a respected tuner and it produced 290bhp@the wheels.

It is generally regarded that oem vts injectors are okay upto 160bhp.

Using the above:

(160x4.6)/4 = 184

then:

(184x100) / (1x80) = 230cc/min (vts injectors are 225cc)

So it's not far off tbh.

From speaking to the seller of the parts the car was in PFC magazine recently ? I don't buy the magazine so can't say !! Been trying to get moxy to look the magazine out so I can see it too.

I think the engine was a normal colour when built/setup, but has since been powdercoated etc. but not run since then (hence me buying the parts and the powedercoat pretty new)

Only really for anyone feeling a bit geeky:

Working out the rpm of the alternator at the standard vts rev-limit.

Standard vts crank pulley - 138mm
Standard vts alternator pulley - 56mm

So the alternator turns 2.464 times to every crankshaft revolution, so at 7250 rev limit, the alternator is spinning at 17,866rpm.

If I was to use a 150mm Crank pulley, then the alternator would spin 2.679 times for every crankshaft revolution, meaning at 7250 rev limit the alternator is spinning at 19,420 (10% faster than oem) - add in a raised rev limit to 7,500 and the alternator is now spinning at 20,090rpm (13% more than oem)

So I want the alternator to spin at 5% less than oem at my max rpm (7500), so I want it to spin at (17,866 less 5% = 16,973rpm). 16,973/7500 = 2.2361. As a result I'll need an alternator pulley 2.2361 times smaller than the crank pulley = alternator pulley needs to be 66mm diamter (10mm more than oem or 18% larger)

may sound like a silly question but why you going to/ are running c2 parts? is it that theyre more suitable to the powers of boost

I think the C2 inlet flows better and should cope with repeated boost better than a plastic inlet - hence being more reliable

The c2 head has larger inlet valves, so in theory it should flow more air = more power.

The c2 camshaft covers are a bit pimp, but do have their own replaceable seals, and they have a breather for each camshaft so I don't need the head breather (not on the c2 head) that returns to the sump

Thanks mate !! I just want it to be reliable, instead of having parts break all the time etc. Sybez went through alternators quickly as initially he had custom supercharger pulley setup which overspun the alternator a stupid amount !

I've got a big spreadsheet of that sort of things, I need to measure up my exhaust as got a few formula's from books working out the ideal lengths/diameters etc. to actually see if it's anywhere near the theoretical optimal spec probably nowhere near due to various limitations like the manifold needs to stop at a certain point so the oem cat can be fitted etc.

don't you like the yellow knob? What you think would be better, a vts gearknob? I think they are black and silver?

I think it feels nice when driving, plus is nice to have something a bit special in your hand when having fun

Spot on, there is a certain pleasure in retaining some oem'ness as opposed to some cheap and tacky interior bits
