as a current exhaust thread here we go, first post so hi guys!

Been offered a 1.4 saxo (mk1) at a silly price from a mate that i know looks after his cars and is in good nick so i shall be a saxo owner before the weekend is over!
Now it has the standard exhaust on it at the moment - i am going to be looking into putting a new (full) system on it - problem is, im a bit lost. I want a raspy sound that bangs and pops - my MGB sebring track car screams but has a deeper sound (not that i would dare put the race system on a sax!), i want something that is a lighter rasp that pops and bangs (im sure you are all aware of the note i am looking for). what do you guys recomend?
I am new to french cars (car history has been seat, nissan, BMW, MG and holden although i had a clio that was kept completely standard) so will i be able to use a vts manifold and system? I would persume so as arent the main engine differeces that the vts is a bored out (obviously from factory) 1.4 with a 16v head on it?

8v exhaust port spacing is different so you need an 8v manifold.
If you want to maximise power and get a truely great sound then as DanT mentioned.
The full Supersprint system with Supersprint manifold and Race Exhaust is rather nice.

The piper has an inch and a half of extra silencer than the KR Backbox. When I designed it I wanted a smooth bend so had to lengthen the pipe at back at the expense of noise reduction.

Sounds to me like the car in question is fuelling very nicely or its not doing something on overrun.
Maybe some longer duration 1321708 camshafts are needed to get fuel into the exhaust

Thanks,

So the VTR manifold will fit? I am all for a bit of fettling but I think i shall leave the TS mani for the 16v head in that case!!

The car does seem to run very week indeed, no misfeing or nothing, but if you do stand behind the car and rev it can smell the fuel slightly but I guess that's just because of having no cat, would those run wothout a remap? Think one of my stem seals is bit slightly wearing get the odd puff of blue smoke when start it up from cold every know and then wanna sort that out first but dunno who to take it to :/
