Dont bother wasting money on body panels, machine polishing is always betrayed to be extremely difficult. When its very very easy You cant go wrong with a Dual action machine.

It's piece of piss and I use a rotary. DA is the one to go for as a beginner but I trusted myself so skipped that step. Hardest bit is in corners or on small areas. A bonnet is piss easy so not much good to practice anyway. If I had a panel if purposely burn through to see the signs before it goes very bad and to see how long it takes.

I agree no point really in buying panels and can't go wrong with a DA, even rotary's ain't that hard to use tbh...

Didnt know your eyes could see microns of clear coat...but your right, if being sensible using a DA its pretty hard to go wrong and easier to go wrong with a rotary.

Finally someone has some sense ^^^^

If you take a rotary to a car without checking for PD readings, especially having no real experience, then I'm sorry you are a fucking Mong!

Not worth the risk if you are taking it seriously!

As there seems to be a lot of people out there willing to chance it, you might get lucky the first few times, eventually you will end up damaging someone's or your own car for the sake of assuming something like this is a "piece of piss".
