Ecosse induction kit
Was after a raceland for my vts but one of these has come up for sale. They look fairly similar??
It comes with a red samco hose for the inlet and a piper x filter. Has anyone had experience of these? Would a green cotton filter fot staright on instead of the piper x?

The raceland is basicly a copy of the ecosse one so yes they are similar, iirc the ecosse one is just better quality really. I'm not completely sure how it sits against the slam panel though, as 106's have a different shape slam panel. Not sure about the filter, i'd imagine you could use a green one instead if you preferred.

Ok cheers for that. Well if someone could just confirm this would sit fine on a vts slam panel that would be great!

I've had a look at the top part of the ecosse one now, it is a funny shape due to the 106 slam panel, so wouldnt sit very well on the saxo one, would probably be best of getting a saxo one if you are bothered about how it looks, saying that i have seen a 106 one on a saxo it just looks a bit out of place.

Ecosse one can be modified to fit. Just make a card template of the Saxo slam panel and use that to cut the front of the top half of the scoop. Then you will need a longer pipe or i just got Derby Performance Hoses to make up a long 90 degree bend and used that to make it longer.

and the end of the day your always going to get the same mass flow rate going through the intake during WOT conditions using standard throttle so whether it be a raceland enclosed filter or another company's design your not going to see significant performance different. The only factorising difference will be the wall roughness of the intake and the boundary layer created from this. The last thing you want is turbulent flow before the throttle body as it'll only reduce the air velocity thus reducing throttle response!
