Saxsport on VTS too loud?
Just fitted a second hand saxsport to my S. it was in really good condition but it's a lot louder then I thought it would be, it's really deep on any acceleration until you hit 4,500 revs when it sounds awesome.
Is it normal or is it nackered?

They are quite a loud and raspy system especially on a VTS. Just check the joins for any exhaust gas leaks

Yhh I was expecting it to be loud but it's just really deep and bassy rather than raspy.
The popping is quite quiet aswell, will a new mani make it louder?

I had a supersprint on my S, that was too loud for me. I don't like to stand out (too old for showing off now)

Ahh okay, cheers fellas. All sounds normal then. Can anyone recommend a quieter raspier exhaust? Possibly a Kam Racing exhaust?

I had a saxsport and it was sooo raspy it was stupid, sounded like a moped. Got a kam on it now, sounds good Imo, quite loud/droney on the motorway though

Id check that its not blowing as a friend had a saxsport and it was nice and raspy! they are a race/rally derived exhaust so are loud but within limits of competion to so not toooo loud, it may be more induction noise?? have you heard your car while someone else drives it?? or just reved it??

i had a straight through supersprint and was boomy inside the car.
Put a silencer in the centre pipe and I much prefer it like that.

If you want a quiet and sporty sound you really need two silencers. Its more expensive but its something you can live with every day of the year and in any situation whether you find yourself on the track or simply doing motorway miles.
Something like the Piper system
or if you are wanting to run from the manifold back then supersprint silenced centre with either a supersprint / KAM Racing or Piper backbox
The piper is the quietest, the supersprint the loudest with our design sitting in the middle, but the supersprint will be 86db which is not too bad at all.

Think I'm gonna have to jack it up and check for leaks and maybe look into the piper system cos I do a couple of motorway trips a week and it's really loud at the minute. Cheers

oooh, I have one of those piper backboxes, can I mate it with a silenced supersprint midpipe then, and will that be quiet(ish)

yes. Both Piper and Supersprint are the same length as the standard backbox. This means the parts are interchangable. You can use the supersprint mid silencer centre pipe. The piper is a large 8" diameter cylinder and is the longest - so has the most wadding inside. Our KAM Racing backbox is about an inch shorter cylinder in comparison
