I'll see what condition their in when I get them off mate. Can't wait to get them on now
I'm off for the next two weeks so hopefully that'll be enough time to get it all sorted!

Right then... I'm off all week so this is the week I concentrate on getting this project sorted.
I've got to:
Put the billie'd struts on.
Replace wishbones for bushed ones.
Replace track rod ends.
Replace drop links.
Put the new arb on.
Swap callipers off the VTR onto the VTS, replace pads and clean discs.
Swap IM Axles beam off the VTR and onto the VTS.
Fit new rear discs and pads.
Bleed old brake fluid, replace hoses with braided, fill up with DOT5.1 fluid.
Sort fittings for exhaust.
Fit inner arch liner on front drivers side.
Service (new oil, oil filter, fuel filter, plugs)
Fit door cards, bins, handles.
Source seat mountings and fit.
Book in for an MOT!
My god that look like a lot!!!
At the end of each day i'll add any photos and or comments on the days work. Should make for an interesting read this week!
RIGHT! I'm off into the garage to get a move on with it, where's that kettle! (next to the heater I hope!)

Short break for lunch but, after looking at all the stuff to do and while the garage is pretty tidy still, I thought it would be best to get the little niggly bits done first.
I have started by removing the cam covers as I want to give them a spray over (I know it's only cosmetic BUT I really want to clean these up and now their off, they will be cleaned and sprayed after all the rest is done)
I've made a start on fitting the door cards. This sounds like an easy job BUT, the previous owner had used silicone sealer to fit SO I've had to measure up and drill all the holes in the correct places. (I'm a pain in the arse for things lining up and looking level and equal so this has took some figuring out!) I've got the drivers side all sorted and will just need to throw the passenger side stuff on in a minute.
After that has been done I want to get it up on axle stands and the wheels off so that tomorrow I can get a start on removing the front suspension.

Time for another brew... Door cards are all on! W00T! going to jack up the front end next and get the wheels off and start stripping the suspension etc off.
I had a look at the struts and removed the old trackrod ends as they were stuck on. I noticed that their is a lot of play in one of the wheel bearings! Might have to get a set and have them fitted asap!
To be honest though, this is why I wanted to get it all sorted this week. I'll have a few more weeks to sort little bits and bobs whilst I'm back to work.

Wish I did too lol. I'm skint now but never mind, I'll enjoy every minute of it on the track!
On an upside, it's now jacked up with the wheels off so tomorrow will be all about stripping the old parts off, cleaning everything and checking them over to check stuff going back on is okay.

Rory, Think it's the drivers side one. It looks like the bearing is too small if you can picture what I mean. Theirs A LOT of play lol. I'll try and stick a vid up tomorrow lol.
Muzizzle, What do you meant by tarting up? Just going to give them a clean up with some WD40 and a cloth. MIGHT if i have time, give them a fresh coat of paint but to be honest I just want to concentrate on making it all work rather than look super good.

Okay so, yesterday I got round to fitting the door cards. I also removed the cam covers ready for cleaning and re-spraying. I also pulled the spark plugs out while I was under the bonnet.
Here's Some Pics:
Todays mission:
Strip all front suspension and struts.
Drain oil from engine and gearbox.
Drain brake fluid and remove callipers.

I'm off all week mate yeah. Nip up if you want
Right, got the drivers side all cleared out. Got a few issues to work out. The wishbones I got have split rubbers on the ball joints SO I think I'll try and prise out the front mounts and swap them over. The drop links are the same that are attached to the arb I got so I'm going to keep the ones that are fitted as their in pretty good nick too and I'll just swap the poly bushes over.
Hopefully the passenger side will be a little easier to get apart... I used half a can of WD40 on all the bolts on the drivers side!!!
I got the oil drained from the gearbox and the engine too so that's ready for replacing asap.
The only major thing I need to figure out is weather it's worth putting the new struts on with the play in the wheel bearing or weather to just strip them and put the shocks etc. into the struts that came off the car. The drivers side has about half a mm of play compared to the 2 or 3 mm in the bought struts.
decisions decisions!
OH and should I go and get a set of solid rear wishbone mounts from AwesomeGTi!?!?!?!?!

You'll always have play in a wheel bearing that isn't tightened up onto the shaft Alan! Well I've always experienced that anyway. If they've got play in when fully tightened then its obviously worn and needs replacing.
Project looks good though! You sourced a cage yet?
