Yeah I did, takes a few lb's out of the weight of the bumper.
Yeah, you wouldn't NEED to do this if you still wanted quick access to the front end. If you ran with no inner arch liners it would make undoing the nuts and bolts much easier along with fitting them threaded rivets to where the other bolts attach so you do away with those stupid plastic nut retainers, I bet you could still get the bumper off pretty quickly and easily. I just fancied doing things this way for a bit of a change and to be honest, Just to see if it was do-able!

I quite like the end result though.

Nearly mate. Just got a few interior bit's to tidy up, Figure out what the hell these wheels are off as the don't fit on my Ford/Citroen spacers. Might just run the A048's on the VTR rims for the day. I could do with a new windscreen too and possibly a better seat mount and either a cheapo suede dished steering wheel or a QR mount for mine just to get a bit better reach.

Only little things really.

OH, and I need to sort a trailer

Know anyone I could get one for cheap for the day?

It's pretty much one of those mods that I did because I could.

I'd thought about it for a while and then finally found a set of catches for cheap and I have a spare set of bumpers so thought that if I tried it and it didn't work I could bang the other bumper on.

Primarily, the aim of this is to make it as quick and easy to remove the bumper so that in the event of me renting a trailer or transporter that doesn't have the low loading capacity that I need, I can take of the bumper to get it loaded rather than ripping it to pieces. This came about after renting the last transporter which I was told would be suitable for lowered cars only to find that it really wasn't!!

Sounds daft I know BUT, I wanted to do it to just cos I like the idea of being able to nip panels off quickly and easily.

Cheers guys that like it too

Why thank you.

Think the next job is tackling the interior a bit. get some of the non-essentials out try and get some weight out from behind the dash. I might even chop that down a bit too.

Think I've decided I'm going to keep the heater control box etc as the heated windscreen option works out a bit dear with fitting and delivery!

Also, I think for the sake of it being easier at the minute, I'll get the Yoko's put on the VTR rims. I really want to keep them on as they are but for the life of me I can't figure out what these wheels have come from to get the correct spacers. They seem to be Ford offset but Citroen bore diameter. Might get the measurements and search for them.

I'm hoping we get a bit of okay weather over next week so I can get out and work on the car.

Not much been going on what with the baby, the weather and fixing VAG cars for the missus and mates!!!

Upside is, Dash is now fully out, most of the sound deadening is out and I'm starting to get some wiring ripped out. Should have a new dash to fit soon as I'm not a fan of the Saxo dash so a 106 unit has been sourced... well, two actually!! In case I muck one up.

Also, I found out that the wheels I got with the A048's on need a set of spacers from a Ford Escort, so eBay is currently getting scoured!

Other than that, the cars a bit of a mess at the minute. I need to sell the VTR wheels and tyres along with the 283 brake setup I have so I can get the money for my first months insurance money!!!!

Thats right, she WILL be on the road soon! Just got to figure out how to get the car to my cousins for the bits that need doing for the MOT and All will be fine.

Anyway, Someone moaned at me about never putting any pictures up so heres a couple from the weekend... nothing exciting though, sorry.

Pictureless update

Insurance will be sorted by the weekend and my cousin is going to book me in for the MOT. This also means that my Uncle can look the car over with his experience from banger racing and a few stock car races, I'm bound to come out with it in a bit better shape than it's going to go in with.

No date set for the MOT yet, but hopefully it'll be the next few weeks.

Wires and sound deadening stripped. The wires that are left are lifted up ready for the floor to be wire brushed as the paint it flaking. Going to try and give it a coat of red to tidy it up inside. Dash should be ready to go in next week and hopefully, i've not chopped anything important!!!
