1.3 rallye box ratios - Saxperience

as title pretty much, but whats the box speeds? also compared to vtr boxs?

ratios off each if any one knows?

i think someone had it on the faq's somewhere, iirc it tops out at around 110 and sits at 5k in 5th at 70? but dont hold me to that...

1 to 5 cogs are all the same. Its the final drive thats different dude.

Think its about 4.5:1?

thxs boys, very helpful does that mean it will top at 110mph?, is acceration much faster then compared to a vtr box?

VTR to a 1.3 Rallye box is probably one of the biggest changes you can make box wise.

The VTR box has a very very low FD, 1.3 Rallye has the highest (ignoring the gearsets Quaife do).

So its going to be a huge difference in acceleration and your MPGs will go down.

DannyGTi ran one on his 106, think top speed was 120mph, but thats with a limiter of 7250. So yea 110mph sounds a fair guess on a VTR as your limiter is lower.

hmm okays, cheers, think i may have to change to a vtr box, whats it like on a track with 1.3 box on? take it 2nd gear corners become 3rd gear corners?

reading that link its like its hitting the limiter at 6250 at about 108mph, and vtr box is 141mph at same revvs,

any ideas on the revvs at about 60ish mph in 5th?

I couldnt give you details personally as Im yet to have my S1 box fitted. Still running a VTS box atm.

It all depends on the track/corner your taking I guess. 2nd wouldnt become 3rd as such.

Off the top of my head the VTS box at 60mph is 3k, so the S1 box at 60mph will be between 3.5k to 4k. (both in 5th obviously).

60 in 5th is about 4k I believe. With a 7250 limit it limits at 122mph, and the car will reach it fucking quickly.
Very good friend of mine had an S1 Rallye, with an S2 engine (8v), exhaust, mani and induction, no other mods. And S1 box.
Did the 1/4 mile in 15.1s, with a full interior. That's quicker than most lightly modified GTi/VTS's, and it would happily sit with them too.

S1 box = mega fun. But not mega MPG.
