Default Sportex Manifold

I helped a mate of mine fit one of these new 4-2-1 Sportex manifolds today to his mk2 vtr (no filter re-location required). Basically, the welds were pretty poor and it was a bit of a job trying to get the bolts in straight. Is this the same with all Sportex manifolds? As i was wanting one because of the price and 'easy' fitment. I dont really want to bother moving the oil filter so this was the best choice for me tbh. Maybe the expensive Supersprint is the way to go...

iirc you can get a 4-1 raceland manifold and you dont have to relocate filter and being raceland it'll be cheap

EDIT: its about £45 more expensive than the raceland 4-2-1 maniold but hell of a lot cheaper than the supersprint/piper manifold and you dont have to move oil filter

Cheers for the info however... i was led to believe that the 4-2-1 manifolds gave low to mid range gains and this is what im after (rather than the 4-1 mid to high range gains). Is there really that much difference in the 4-2-1 and the 4-1 systems?

i had a 4-2-1 raceland and tbh i didnt feel any difference lol ive sold it to another member on here and he said he can feel a difference, my mate has a 4-1 on his mk2 vtr but i have never driven it or compared it to a vtr with a 4-2-1 so i cant give you any more advise sorry lol but yea you are right 4-1 are suposed to give better mid to high end power, but 8vs are good at low end power anyway and 16v's are better at high end power when the second cam starts working, so im my head you would want to increase the high end power in a 8v as thats where they loose there power

Yee very good point. I could do with some RR figures tbh haha. Ill see if i can get hold of a second hand supersprint, if not, ill probably go down the 4-1 raceland route. Cheers for your input mate

its alright mate i agree if you can pick up a supersprint second hand, the quality will be sooo much better than a raceland

i fitted my sportex manifold today. all went well just need to pack the top nuts out so that they dont bend the studs. i have felt a slight improvement in power however i am still running a standard exhaust system.
