Motorsport Engineering
I got my grades through today and they were awful tbh.
I needed an A and a B to get into the course I want. But got 2 C's and an F
I'm gutted.
I also do not want to go do my Insurance course cos it isnt what i actually want to do.
So I have enquired about Motorsport Engineering through clearing, anybody do it on here who could tell me what its like?
Thanks, Ross.

I didnt do it but did 2 years of automotive engineering at coventry uni before leaving(stupidly). There will be alot of maths and physics but the lads who were doing it there had a proper roar, building formula fords and taking them racing etc. I wish I had gone straight onto that course, i know I would have stuck it out and been doing something i love.
Good luck mate, hope you make better choices than I did!

Did it at Coventry Uni, but it was pretty much a glorified Mech Eng course with a couple of bits about suspension/drivetrain. Was alright, and you got to fuck around in the workshops a fair bit.

I do Motorsport Engineering Level 3, its just mechanic stuff, if you doing BTEC, 10 units are normal mechanic stuff, the other 2 are Motorsport based.

I should be off to do this at brunel in september. They had a couple of pretty sweet looking single seaters and were remapping an r6 engine.

good lad it really depends where you do the course to what type of things you will be doing. if its based near a racing track then theres loads of practical testing ect.

im studying my masters doing mechanical engineering, done my third year an aproaching my fourth and final year. Its a very similar course to motorsport engineering apart from a couple of modules are different, i opted to do mechanical so that when i graduate there is a much larger variation of jobs to apply for etc wheras with motorsport you are limited to a certain area and therefore jobs will likely take longer to get
thats my 2pence, hope it helps
also a hell of a lot of maths is involved so make sure you are happy with everything you have seen so far

i am at hull uni, very good engineering department. when i applied it was in the top 5 in the uk for engineering.
i needed BBB or ABB at a-level, i cant remember which. if im honest you do miss out on a fair bit of uni life as the work load is a hell of a lot more than people on other courses but i am doing somthing that i prefer and enjoy (sort of). it will be worth it in the end

im pleased work dont bother you as you need that attitude to get an engineering degree
i know someone who does history and politics and he has never had more than 9 lectures a week in all of his three year degree and never more than 4 essays in a year. to put things in perspective first year i had 24 hours of lectures, 2nd year i had 21 hours and my third year i had 16 due to doing a dissertation etc. on top of all this i had at least 3 assignments in every fortnight.
providing you make a lot of friends on your course and get friendly with the lectures its not too bad but the amount of effort needed is a lot.
good luck with your decision mate

Try and get through on clearing, you might be lucky, especially if most people with conditional acceptances don't get in too. If not can you not spend another year doing something else at level 3 to get more UCAS points allowing you to enter the course? Do they do a foundation year for the course?
What ever you do though don't do the other course if it is not what you want to do.
