Help me Choose a New Car - £5000
Hi guys.
Time has come too get a newer car and im looking for some advice from you lot.
Ive got around the £5000 mark but Ill still consider £3000 cars etc. Between say 2001 and 2007
Im looking for something with around 130bhp - 150bhp and between a 1.6 - 2.0 engine.
Needs too be a sporty car whether it be a hatch or a 2 seater sports car.
Cars that i have been going through in my head but have not really been looking at are :
Seat Leons - what model i do not know though (maybe the 150bhp tdi)
seat ibizas tdi
toyota mr2 (newer model)
renault twingo gt
Fiesta ST
Polo GT
Skoda Fabia VRS
What do you guys think of any of the above??
Or any other recommendations??
If i were too only spend around the £3000 mark id probably decide on an ibiza or a polo gti (around 2001)
Thanks

Fabia VRS's go like shit off a shovel when remapped! Bloody quick for a diesel. Plus you can join the VAG side of life along with me.

obviously theres a wide range but im asking for your opinions.
Minis are out of the question as are most BMW's purely down to the fact that i would have too get a higher mileage one
Also i didnt think the vrs were overly quick.
130bhp as standard doesn't really wow me.
Whats better about the vrs over say the same engine in the polo/leon/ibiza etc - main difference is VRS come out slightly more expensive
As for type r's i have a civic at the moment and i think they are overrated.
Dont think a type r would change my mind unless it was an integra

boohoo at slightly higher mileage. As Mr_X said, the list is endless, just get a car you want, not what everyone on here wants you to get. If you don't want a specific car at the moment, then maybe just save your money til you know what you want.
I'd say Fabia VRS off your list though. I dno if the budget would stretch as far as a Passat W8, but I'd say one of those if it does.
EDIT: You've said around 130bhp, and included a Fabia in your list, then slated it later on :| Arguing with yourself over it is a bit pointless, I'm sticking to my original advice, save your money til you actually know which specific car you want.

Don't get too hung up on BHP figures. Think of the car's power to weight ratio etc.

i wasn't slating it at all.
Im guaging into what its power is like...
130bhp can be fast in some cars slower in others.
Forget the thread guys no problems was only looking at people personal experiences

Well i didnt realise that was an auto, just used it as an example and fair enough.
why not go for something like a toyota starlett or a nissan pulsar.
mind you i dont know how much bhp they put out but i know they can be rather fast
