Default Anyone here had problems with getting phone fixed under warranty?

Basically a few weeks ago I had my Nexus S on my lap and as I got out the car it fell onto a concrete floor and cracked the glass covering the screen, the screen itself was fine and the phone still worked properly (was hardly a long distance to fall).

So a few days later I left my phone on charge overnight as usual and in the morning the phone was switched off. Tried to switch it on and there was no response. Took the battery out, put it back in and turned it on and phone fired up but froze on startup screen.

So sent it off to be repaired by Samsung and only just received it back this morning. They've told me the phone is 'beyond economical repair'. Is there any way I can go about dealing with this? I find it hard to believe dropping my phone about a foot from the ground has caused it to be beyond repair?!
I've literally had the phone about 2 months and it's not exactly a cheap phone I can just replace either!

For any of you who know about phones the only notes they gave me was 'handset has physical damage to the lcd assy and pba', yet they've ticked the box liquid contamination?!

just the water sticker on the phone. If it got wet then it's your fault.

I dropped a phone once. Then I bought a protective case and saved on insurance ever since.

Trust me my phone has never been in water. Yeah I've got a protective case now, just a bit late.

UPDATE: Plugged my phone into the computer (wish I'd done this ages ago) and after my computer had installed the drivers, my phone fired up as normal!!?? Everything exactly as I left it, even had updates from ebay etc and my SIM card isnt even in the phone at the moment!?

Does this mean Samsung probably didnt even open up my phone?

Its all a load of shit
Ive had 2 phones sent away now and both have come back with "water damage", which - youve guessed it - isnt covered under the warrenty
The first i kept in the room while i was showering and was told this was why (condensation) and i thought fair enough
My second has never been anywhere near water, havent even held with wet hands and it came back with water damage

So just went under the household accidently damage and am getting a phone call in 2 days time lol

This is why you need insurance as well. Warranties don't really mean shit. The company will try to get out of it whenever they can.

Glad to hear it seems to be working again though!!

warranty only covers faults with the product.. insurance will also cover accidental damage, so where his phones been dropped it will only be covered if he took the aftercare service when purchasing the phone

Thing is though they've obviously just seen the crack in the screen and immediately decided the phone is beyond repair. I bet the majority of people who take their phones in to be repaired have in fact caused the damage themselves through dropping it or whatever.

But Im not even bothered about paying for the screen, thats fine as it was my own fault. But the fact that it worked for like a week after I dropped it and then started playing up AND other people have experienced similar problems with the phone makes me think this is a manufacturers fault.

Anyway Im going to take it back into CPW and keep doing so until they have fixed the phone.

i sent my daughters phone off for repair because the camera had stopped working, and the firm that deals with sony repairs told me that the they wouldnt repair the phone because when they opened it up the vibrating module wasnt there, they said someone had desoldered it from the pcb, even tho the anti tamper stickers were still covering the screw holes ect. I went straight to sonys head office and the next day the phone was replaced free of charge as a gesture of good will lol

if its Mechanical damage, then your warranty will fix it. anything different like physical damage is all for your Insurance, not warranty. Water damage is physical damage...as it isnt the phones fault (or your providers fault) you have to pay for the damage, e.g go through Insurance (as you pay for this). you'd be VERY suprised of what it takes to get your phone wet and to cause water damage, taking it out in light misty rain for 1 second can fuck it up!

Had a nightmare with tmobile trying to get my g1 repaired as the menu button broke and it was stuck in safe mode.

Sent it off to them and they said they wanted £80 to fix the screen as it was cracked before attempting to fix the real issue. I told them not to bother with the screen as it worked fine and just to fix the button, they said it cant be done the screen must be fixed mr tim! So asked to get it sent back and 8 months later it is still in transit from milton keynes to york.

they gave me £23 credit on my account for losing my phone, bastards.

I bought an LG slider phone one of the first they made like that. After just over 1 month the screen would go white if you slid the phone up. They blamed me saying i must have dropped it...which i never did once. Then said it was beyond economical repair and did i want it sent back to me at the cost of about £20.....as a broken phone is so useful to me...?
