Arrow Declaring your mods ?

Does everyone declare there mods ?. As i got pulled the other week and they said it was a routine stop check to see if everything was ok with my car.
They checked everything and it all came back fine , They also said if they wanted to they could check my mods on my insurance and that they are clamping down on people not declaring them :/. fortunately i had put my mods on my insurance this year. But to the people that don't put them on they are clamping down big time.

Why is that the case?

Surely they are just enforcing the traffic laws?

Police don't make the laws so you can't call them nobs for trying to enforce them.

I'm saying that some police men are ok but the traffic one's are very harsh with mods. I got pulled in suffolk and they are very harsh.

There's enforcing laws then there's enforcing them like you're a messiah of some sort.

I have only ever been pulled once and I have owned two Saxo's and a 106 and the police were fine with me

I have spoken to the police several times whilst being in other peoples cars and they were fine as well

If you get the arse and speak to them like shit then they are going to give you a hard time, speak to them with respect then you will be fine in my opinion

I went for ages without declaring my mods but when i renewed my insurance with chris knott it didnt make a difference in price with or without the mods so i would be silly not to declare them.

Also in relation to the police discussion, i got pulled by the north yorkshire rozzers once and they started rollocking me about being a menace to the road and its people like me that kill people leaving them with broken families. All i did was pull into a one way street the wrong way to swing the car around, this was in the middle of the night.

Sometimes they take the biscuit even if you try to be polite as possible, on the other hand i spoke to a bloke from humberside police and he told me that the north yorkshire lot were cunts lol.

If you're one of these with the Gift of the Gab you'll probably be fine lol.

If I had mods, which I don't because it would be to expensive for insurance, I would declare them. Simply because I am the unluckiest person in the word. I reckon most people would get away with it no bother - but they seem to love making a right example out of me. One time I got sent to court for holding a spliff that didn't even belong to me... I know you'd think there must be more to it than that, but that was literally IT. Sent to court lol, unbelivable - I also see them driving behind me all the time doing insurance checks on their little phones lol, really don't understand what it is about me and the police... I'm always really polite as well I never give them any attitude.

i think insurance on mods is daft. they should do the system where you do have to declare them but its your choice to cover them or not. yes on engine performance parts have them a must on paying extra. as for tints, sound system etc should be your choice, if it gets robbed or damaged and your covered fine, if not then you still carry on your insurance and it wont be affected. that way more people would declare there mods i would imagine....

maybe its a stupid idea i dont know, just a thought

I think the way insurance companies think about it is that if you have styling mods then it makes the car more attractive to thieves so is more of a risk of being stolen etc

yeah thats true i suppose lol

but then if car gets nicked then they just pay up value of the car, and pay the mods if you cover them
