Are Euro Pressed Metal Plates Legal?
thinking of getting them, but are they legal?
will i get in sh*t with the law? (any points)?
if they are legal where do i get the 100% legal ones (any websites?)

In short, no, not legal.
(regardless of what any website selling them says to the contrary)
Re fines etc - maximum £1,000 fine, no points (if taken to court). Usually a FPN of £60 fine though.

They don't just have to be reflective - they have to be MADE of a retro-reflective material. Steel is not considered retro-reflective, therefore no pressed plates are legal. Full stop.

Note section 2, paragraph 1 applicable to most saxos. Section 1, part 1 covers those 2001 onwards cars (says the same thing regarding material though so no difference)

I got my pressed plates from 'dubmeister' which are supposed to be legal pressed number plates as there reflective, have the companies address along the bottom and also require you to send off your documents for the plates. I have never had a problem with mine anyway but its up to you:

They are painted with reflective paint. The law requires they are MADE of a retro-reflective material (IE, the light reflects back to the source, Vs. reflex-reflective where the light scatters in all directions).
Dubmeister may well claim they're legal - they would do - they're in the business of trying to sell numberplates  They're not legal though unfortunately.

depending on how strict the old bill are, sometimes they dont even care as long as the fonts correct
if not then its either a £30 fine, £60 fine or just a warning to take them off

I carry standards under the boot carpet but never been pulled over, font is correct and they are reflective - perhaps not reflective material but reflective paint. Never been pulled and I drive all over the place and have had traffic cars behind me. If I did get pulled I could just pop the old ones back in.
If you did get taken to court and a maaahoosive fine, take it up with the manufacturer.

I've been pulled over by traffic police for a hanging handbrake cable he also mentioned my number plates were illegal (Dubmeister) I showed him the BSAU markings and he 'let me off'.

In other words, the "Law" for pressed plates is a grey area as the cops don't fully know what is illegal.
If you do go down the pressed plate route make sure you get the "B" number and manufacturer on the plate and it is the correct font and spacing as standard and you should be fine.
