Default saxo 1.4 sx to 1.6 vtr HELP! :)

Hello there im new to "saxperience" so i apolagise for anything i havnt done properly. so i have a saxo 1997 sx 1.4 (key code imobaliser) and have also just bought a written off saxo vtr 1.6 8v 2000 and would like to swap the engine is there anything other than the engine that needs replacing? im a motorbike mechanic so not used to cars many thanks.

maybe loom(1 or 3 plug) ..ecu maybe drive shafts just have to look see if their different

well the problem is it only has 1 drive shaft as other was written off :/ also is it better to keep the 1.4 gearbox for lower ratio?

it depends on what year the vtr is being a 2000 it'll be a single plug but as its a mk2 the chassis plug on the loom may be different so may have to use the interior loom from the vtr as well and the clocks

ideally all you need is the compelte engine, loom and UNLOCKED ecu you do this by starting the vtr and pulling out the immoliser which unlcoks the ecu and then make sure you unplug the imobilsier on the 1.4 before you plug the vtr ecu in as it'll jsut lock it

as said if the vtr engine loom dosent fit the interior loom then either use the vtr interior loom or splice the 1.4 chassis plug on to the vtr loom

the 1.4 box will sue a smaller diff so can damage the box if you do too many heavy starts the vtr box will eb slower accelerating but has a bigger diff ideally you want a vts box

So where's the imobaliser on vtr and so if I use the 1.4 drive shafts with 1.4 gearbox it won't last long ?

well you might as well use the vtr shafts if you have them to help with torque steer, the box should be fine if driven sensibly the immobiliser is up behind the glove box a black box about the same size as a fag packet use the search button and you should find the guide

Hmm I don't drive sensibally atall to be honest I'm a hulagan and I only have one driveshaft as the left one was ripped out in the crash

the right hand side one is the main one you want anyway as its a two piece shaft instead of a onepiece shaft which you'll have on the 1.4, stick to the vtr box, to make life simple jsut use as much from the vtr as possible, bad thigns strat to happen when people try to cut corners and use different parts from different models

So use rhs vtr shaft and lhs 1.4 shaft with vtr box?

id get a vtr passenger side shaft as well, the 1.4 shaft will leak oil if used with the vtr box just stick to as much vtr parts you can

or fit the 1.4 box and shafts untill something goes wrong and then fit your vtr box and shaft and buy a new passenger shaft when the time comes

i persoanlly would fit the vtr box with a couple of brand new vtr shafts just so you know they are in good nick

i meant to say a vtr box in the last but one message, but yea a vts box makes a good amount of difference n a vtr engine or if you had some spare cash you could get a rallye/xsi box they will give you better acceleration but have the bigger diffs in them also, but are quite rare to find so they are expensive
