Do i need to get shocks for lowering 40mm?
Just wanting to get people's thoughts on lowering my Saxo. Basically, i am wanting to lower it 40mm and have had a few opinions from people so far saying that they think shocks are or are not necessary for this level of lowering. Can people help me out and give your opinions on what you think? Just want to get it right but also not waste money on shocks if they are not necessary? Cheers

You should be able to lower it 40mm without upgrading the shocks mate.
Any lower and you will need to though

if you've got the struts apart to change the springs, it doesn't make any sense to NOT change shocks. At 40mm, you'll hugely reduce the life of the standard shock, and it'll not handle anywhere near as nicely as a shock designed for lowered movement.

As said it can be lowered as much as you want on standard shocks but they will be no where near as good as uprated ones

any amount of lowering imo needs better shocks why lower your car and not improve the handling while your at it? Any amount of lowering is going to wear out the socks people are under the impression up to 40mm is fine without new socks and any lower needs socks, it's not an exact science it's just people estimates and its not clear cut as that, I'd always upgrade shocks it's like £100 for a pair of front apex socks

Do it right. Don't cut corners as it WILL bite you on the arse. It's French, it'll break. Get decent shocks and benefit from the whole thing.

As said in my message mate will be better than what you've got but not an upgrade the apex shocks off kam racing are pretty much the cheapest you can get away with that are designed for lowering springs
