Default PS4 Disc broke into Pieces whilst Playing

Hello all

A couple of days ago i purchased Far Cry 4 for the PS4 and have only played it for a total of 3-4 hours. Whilst playing yesterday the game just suddenly froze and ejected automatically only to find that the disc was in 3 pieces.

Issue is that i have lost the receipt and even if i did have the receipt the retailer may not take it back and just blame it on my PS4. However i have tried other games in the PS4 since and they work fine without any issues. I have never had an issue of a disc breaking into pieces whilst playing.

What are my rights here if i don't have a receipt, could i write to the manufacturer - Ubisoft? Taking it back to the retailer will be a waste of time as no receipt then they don't want to know.

Thanks

Your word against there's i doubt you have a leg to stand on.unless you could possibly print out a bank statement showing the payment to the shop.

I can possibly get a credit card statement, however will they still exchange it as they could easily sort of shift the blame on me for breaking the disc.

take it back to them with a bank statement.
They'll be able to tell if it's been crushed or other... different break marks.
I mean, take it back in, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Just don't be a dick about it.

Come on,,, own up. You ejected it and when it fell on the floor, you accidentally stood on it,,,, didn't you. ;-) ;-)

happened to my mate not long ago with his ps4. he wrote playstaion and they told him that its becoming a common fault. its something to do with the spin rate/centrifugal force on the disc. some discs have imperfections that are invisible to the eye and those are the ones it happens to...

Did he get a replacement for the broken disc? Surely the discs must be of a certain quality so that they don't break.

Surely the obvious thing to do here, is gather any proof of payment, whether that be receipt or credit card statement, whatever, and simply go back to the shop and ask?

"SaxP said you'd replace it..."

haha

I had issues with goods before, and always got replacement + courtesy vouchers after sending a polite email.

Well I'm merely pointing at the obvious but I've done exactly that since forever. Came in handy on a few occasions as I had discs that were cracked, had bubbles or even simply would not play.

With some companies, being polite is enough. I bought a pack of rechargeable batteries from duracell and one was dead straight out of the box. 1 email and 4 days later, I had a voucher for £40 and got loads of free batteries for the price of one defect. Great customer service.

If Sony know it as a common fault, they will probably replace the disk, or give you a downloadable version.. I'd go on twitter and message their support team, quickest way to get a response.. Then message them through the PSN or something

try it, expect nothing, therefore expectations will be exceeded if you get an exchange.
