People with 17’s???

When i put my foot down, sparks apparently come from underneath my car??

I jacked the back end up and all i seem to be able to find is on the inside of the wheel it seems to be rubbing somewhere?

does it rub @ all on the inside for any1 else

is there any part where it looks like a really tight fit or do it have loads of room between the inner part of wheel and the axle bit??

So i have painted where it was rubbing with black touch up pen, and keep checking it @ the minute to see if any paint missing after it's been driven and so far nothing after a couple of days?

Or, does any1 else have any ideas what it may be?

I think someone could be taking the piss m8, i've got 17's....dont touch @ all, u hear a grinding? if there are sparks its surely metal on metal?

I cant hear any grinding or anything like that, which is what really pisses me off. But it has def been catching cause on the inside edge of the wheel itself (not tyre) it is shiny like new metal.

Seems it has been catching on some sort of tiny metal plate that is bolted to the axle
So, i have painted it and keep checking it to see if it catches any further

Have determined sparks could be coming from O/S driveshaft, car going to a garage to be checked monday so will keep you updated,

Also found out the O/S front bearing was totally fooked to

Make sure the wheels you bought were the right offset. My had wheels on his corsa C that were the wrong offset and the inside of the wheels scraped and also knackered his steering reack eventually :/

This might not be the cause but its something to think about...

if they are rubbing at the back inner edge then they must be rubbing there all the time due to no suspension movement at the back to bring the wheels in or out. A small spacer should move them out just enough

I thought the 1 already on was the biggest available?

after reading your information on 17s, i need to know a few things? i tried putting on 17s on my saxo but it rubbed so i rolled the arches but the inner arches seems to be the problem hear. it seems to be rubbing on the inner arch and without knowin exactly what to do i had to take them off and i want them on full time asap so please provide me with the correct info i need and what steps i need to take to get my 17s back on. cheers!

if its rubbing on the inner arch or rear suspension the only way to fix it is to space the alloys outwards with spacers and if necessary longer wheel bolts

ok cheers i have been hearing that you have to take out the inner liners and cut away at the arch and remove the ventillation boxes. is any of this true mate??

have you got a max power saxo book ? it tells u a bit in there, but also says bout getting a pro welder to do it !!
I had mine done at R-tec today. Did a great job, but defo not something i could hav done!!

Involves cutting up, n welding back differnt parts of the lower slam panel.

yeh it was alot of money to do the 17's! that y i opted for the 16's, and my cars pretty low, so thats y i had to have a bit of arch work. Only cost me £60.
