Fitting VTS/VTR struts and brakes to a Furio?
Is it a straight swap to fit VTS/VTR struts and brakes to a Furio?
I think I might have a bent strut as my drivers wheel sits a bit further back than the passenger one.
Are VTS/VTR brakes the same size and fit under 14" VTR wheels?

Straight swap as long as the driveshafts match.

As above, anti roll bar link rods can be different too so either try and get them with your vtr struts or you may need to buy a pair.

2 types of drive shaft which means 2 types of strut.
Tapered and non tapered.
I think you have bent your lower wishbone not your strut.

Any easy way to tell what shafts I have (Any pictures or links to the different types)?
Its had 2 wishbones as it failed the MOT on 2 bottom ball joints so changed the whole arms for 2 new ones.

to be totally honest reading what you've said i would say you have a bent wishbone and not a bent strut! this will make it sit further forward or back if its bent.
but if you want to fit the struts anyway , as said above watch out for the tapered and non tapered because you have a 2000 year which is a crossover between mk1 and mk2 your best bet is to look at your own car as crossover year cars are such a miss match of mk1/mk2 parts.
Most of drop link positions are then same or atleast thats what ive found out and if i right im sure furio's front brakes are exactly the same as vtr/s front brakes so no need to change them

The bottom arms were replaced for the MOT about a month ago (As said in post 5) so they are good.
Going to get it up in the air and see if I can see anything obvious.

do furios use a droplink set up or is the arb attached to the wishbone like on a 1.1?
also do they have vented or solid front brakes?
EDIT quick look on ebay shows they have vented brakes, so im guessing they have the vtr arb set up?

The vtr, vts and westcoast have identical struts, wishbones, arbs and brakes. So it is not an advantage or upgrade to use vtr or vts struts or brakes as they are identical. Apart from the normal mk1 none tapered and mk2 tapered.
The furio occasional had solid discs and therefore different calipers too. Struts and arb again remain the same as a vtr or s.

So a Furio is pretty much a 1.4 VTR/VTS
I want to replace the strut to see if thats why my offside wheel sits a bit further back in the arch and was going to swap the whole strut inc brakes but I now know they are the same I can just get a strut and swap everything over.

Check your discs for if theyre vented or solid, if theyre vented then there is no difference.
If your wheel is sat back then its most probably your wishbone.
btw yeh the Westcoast and Furio has the same chassis as a VTR/S

Just to throw it out there, its not strictly true that pre 2000 have flat driveshafts. My 1999 vtr has tapered shafts with the big hub nut

As I keep saying.........IT HAS NEW WIHBONES FITTED
And yes it has vented disc's.
Next time its in the air I will knock one of the driveshafts out the hub a bit and check if tapered or not.

ok put it this way if it isnt the wishbone then god knows what it'll be, take it to a garage and see what they say if it isnt the wishbone then that can suggest there is something majorly wrong with your chassis
