My second Saxo, Mk1 silver VTS! Basic learner track car! Cage Action Post 25!!
Right picked this up tonight!
I have bought it with the intention of using it as a track learning car! This will not be a fully kitted out track car with all the best parts it will be a basic track prepped car so I can learn the basics of track driving and just learn basically!
Updates will not be every week as this will be a bit on the side project till I get my furio exactly how I want it!
Basics of the car as it is!
Mk1 vts
silver in colour
covered 96000 miles
standard looking apart from backbox
it has a k&n induction kit, kam racing updated gear linkages and full Aftermarket exhaust system on which will do for now!
First think first is to tackle the rust situation which will get looked at and welded up by my uncle!
Next will be to strip out all interior and get rid of any unwanted panels parts which I won't need!
Plans are
single bucket seat
cheap brake upgrade
cheap suspension setup
poss cage if one comes up cheap enough!
That's about it for now I think!

Got up early this morning to start removing a few bits before i went to work.
first thing which came off (or shall i say fell off when touched) was the 16v badges on the rear quarter panels
Then removed the cd player (which is for sale if anyone is interested)
Removed the lockwood vts door sills it had on it because they were horrible and extra weight
Then it was time to go to work, didnt have any of my tools in my garage so couldnt remove any interior etc but that will happen tonight when i get home with my tools.
Now the search begins for a cheap bucket seat and some decent brakes.

Sounds like a good mate. Get busy stripping it and get some more pics up. There is plenty of weight to come out of there.

Erm not sure yet tom, may insure it third party and limited mileage if its cheap enough but what with me having use of a trailor and van it may just be easier and cheaper to transport it on that to track days.

Cheers ashley.
yes the 266mm brakes are something i am looking at and any decent suspension setup will be good enough.
as i said this is going to be a basic track car just so i can learn the basics etc and then i can build on it from there.

Nice didnt you buy a white vts though?
so you have 3 saxos now?
266mm set up is good i have it on my furio but maybe a set of decent discs and pads would be better for track?

no didnt buy the white vts in the end, when i looked at it in person wasnt as mint as i thought it was and needed a few bits doing to it. After looking at it decided i couldn't sell my furio so i saw this and thought i get the best of both worlds for a fraction of the price.
mmmm yeh possibly, so you mean keep the stock vts brakes and just add performance disks and pads?

cheers scott.
Got a few more bits stripped out of it last night :
rear seats, parcel shelf holders, passenger b trim and both c trims, rear doorcards, front doorcards, all seatbelts bar the drivers one, lower centre console.
going to take out the passenger seat tonight but i need to attack one of the bolts with a drill as the bolt is buggered, will then remove the drivers seat and take out the carpet before putting the drivers seat back in.
really need to get a cheap bucket seat in there soon so i can get rid of the interior as a set.
things im hoping to pick up this weekend:
106 doorbins and rallye doorcards
cheap manual 106 manual mirrors
bonnet stay clip from Citroen (will get on my lunchbreak today)
Aerial Blanking Plug from Citroen (will get on my lunchbreak today)
Only silly bits but will make a difference i think.

Ok, hopefully some progress pics to come tonight.
over the weekend picked up a supersprint mani, omp lower brace, decat pipe and 3in outward rolled backbox along with a standard cat back centre section.
also hopefully bought a bucket seat, fixed frame and some 206gti brakes which i will be paying for today when i get sent their paypal addresses.
front seats and carpet are still in at the moment although they will be out tomorrow night when i get home from work.
hoping to have my first try out in it at brands at the tester session on 30th september.
pics to come tonight if i can get to my unit.
