Debt? You pay fuck all back out of your wage when you're employed, debt is not a justified reason NOT to go to university.. obviously it's not for everyone but, I want to go for the experience if nothing else I don't want a boring apprenticeship and a job right now.

I'm going to Plymouth to do Business Studies, looking forward to it but stressing because of all the crap that needs to be sorted in advance and also the money situation! Going to be skint by looks of it, going to apply for a student account to give me a nice overdraft (yay, debt..), hopefully work during Xmas/Summer to pay that off.. Probably going with Co-operative bank as its an overdraft that starts on 1400 which is much more than the rest!

so are you selling your car? because i wouldn't mind those twists

You spend 3-4 years in uni then come out with like a £20.000 student loan det! fair enough you will have a qualification but now people are coming out of uni and cant even get a good job lol working in tesco with £20.000 det.
When you can get a job say landscapes when you leave school (16-17) then the time you would of finished uni they would be (23ish) and would of been working for about 6 years, Probs have no det and saved alot of money!
Im just saying how i feel about uni at the moment dont think it is worth it if you have had a job when you finish school and you are earning enough to keep you going, run your car plus mods and general stuff and have the money to save. To me uni is a no go.
Might not make that much sence in a rush lol!

So basically you're just looking at the short term picture?
You're better off for a few years but what about later in life?

unless you get an apprenticeship?
no debt at all
you've got plenty of money for 3 years while you complete your apprenticeship
at the same time you get your degree paid by the company
you end up in a well paid job that would require a degree (that you now have) but dont have any debt or haven't had to live of noodles for the past 3 years
yes you miss out on uni life, but fuck it, go out drinking every night anyway and just get up for work the next morning - take it like a man

im doing mechanical engineering at john moores.
the people sat about on the dole or working at asda have degrees like media studies, the number of these micky mouse degrees seem to be increasing in line with the number of unemployed graduates strangely enough.
my potential wage when i finish my degree will more than offset any debt ill have

LOL at that, if everyone thought the same we would have a planet full of fucking landscape gardeners you moron, where do you think teachers and doctors come from?
You can make that comparison to the lower earning jobs, but there are a lot of jobs you won't even get looked at without having a degree/masters/doctorate etc.
Some people want to actually use their brain during everyday work, they want to push themselves, not push a lawn mower around all day, why do this when they can save peoples lives and earn earn a significant amount more than you would doing your lawns from a comfy office.

I looked into this but didn't like the idea of going to a college again.
Probably because mine was a rat infested shit hole.

you use your brain to study then when you come out you cant get a job have you not been watching the news? and what you studying? do you know how much landscapers get?
its not even that bad working outside! yeah the winter is abit harsh but when its the summer and a nice day you are stuck in some office sweating with your boss looking over your shoulder every 2 mins lol whilst i am having banter outside loving life

I'm not studying anything, I studied computer science.
landscaping was an example, seeing as you used an example I stuck to the same one...
I know plenty of people who have graduated and got jobs and yes I watch the news, thanks, you will probably find it's people who have got degrees in colouring or the like.
I would class landscaping to be a 'lower, skivvy' kind of job (nothing wrong with this) in comparison to being something like a GP/Surgeon, would you not?
