Sam, ill take those tail-lights if you've still got them? do they coe with the bulb-holders?

Anyway, we have PROGRESS!
So after the spot-weld drill bit came, and i had the crossmember already, me and dad got to work removing the old mangled member...
here, have a picture...

Well the only problem we have is that it doesnt have one of the holes for the rubber fan mounts, but we'll drill that in at a later date when i have a new one to measure up with

Naked saxo...

Anyway, after getting it out, i decided to spray the centre of the new one before fitting, to avoid overspray. But we left the ends bare to help with welding.
my dad decided to do the welding, even though he knows im better with a mig (he never has trusted me to be any good at anything...) and we sanded down any excess weld to neaten it up a bit...

and here it is, welded and sprayed..

We didnt have too much of a problem getitng it in, but if i do it again (not bloody likely) then its a write off, because there is no way those welds are going anywhere!

the new bumper has arrived, and is off to be resprayed in the coming week...
While its off the road, i plan on spraying the rocker cover and manifold cover with high heat silver, and giving the whole bay a general spruce up!

So far, it has cost me just over £57 to fix, £71 if you include the paint (but im going to be using that on a few things... so im not counting it)

another little update, decided to spruce the bay up a little bit while it was off the road...
Just used halfrauds ultra heat paint in aluminium...

looking at getting some battery/ecu cover just to tidy it up, then giving it all a little clean. Not worth going all out and smoothing it on a 1.1 anyway

its a pain in the ass, the mother insists that 'ovens arent made for headlights, and you'll end up with condensation in them', so its either wait until the rare time shes out of the house, or buy some.... considering angels now! but ive set myself a budget and its going to be hard sticking to it if im forking out that much for something i could do for pennies!

Nah the only problem I have had that alot of people haven't is the headlight insert trim cracked when I sprayed it, but no condensation, but yeah mate go for the angels, I would personally fit a VT bumper to it, when I had my flat arch it looked so much better with the vt bumper, I liked it even though the edges sticked out, you can sort the sticking out but I didn't bother as I was going to VT kit the whole thing! But yeah try smoke them yaself, save alot of money!

Idk, i'd rather keep it LOOKING like a 1.1, just because otherwise it seams like mutton dressed as lamb
I do like the half vt kitted 1.1 on here, just wouldnt do it to mine
also nicked an exhaust tip off my dad (it was sat in the shed) to tidy it up for now... until i get a decent backbox

Ok, well... i keep having little late night worries about how much im actually going to be spending on this, for a 1.1...
But when i think about it, i can do alot of it cheap, and as long as i space out the big spenders (like lowering, dished alloys, debadged and resprayed boot) then i cant see myself spending much more than £30 a week on this...

Anyway, i have had a set of vts clocks lying around for ages, and wanted to put them on but worried about mileage....well today i got bored, read a thread on here, and took them apart. I now have a white fascia that im going to put on my clocks, so i dont have to get the mileage altered.

But while the clocks are out, i thought i might aswell fiddle with them a little.... so watch this space

Also, THE LEXUS LIGHTS WILL FINALLY BE GONE! as of sometime next week, i can finally get rid of the bastards!

Sorry for what may seem like a pointless update, its more to rant at myself than anything

Evo 7s yeah, tbh ive just sanded and sprayed them atm, but they could do with filling around the lips to get rid of the major curbing (mmm, filling around the lips....)
Hoping to save for some slotmags eventually though

tbh its not as much as it looks, its just using a spot weld drillbit to drill it out, then mig welding the new one in, took about 2 hours with the adjustments and setting shit up there wasnt much engine work, just unpluging wires to move and taking the manifold off to weld the lambdas thread back in... Tbh from the start i said if i could fix it i would, its going for mot monday, but the guys already seen it and says its a good job, so that'll do me! Thanks though guys!
