yes a 16v will make 200bhp+. How many of them acheive it?? not many Most stumble at 195 if there lucky.
Speaking to Sandy 180bhp from an 8v is acheiveable! maybe more. So plenty more to be gained. Also the 8v lump is surprisingly lighter than the 16v lump.
Much bigger/more powerful machinery have become very embarrased when they realised i was still next to them smiling when they thought i had long dissapeared. Only silly speeds do they leave me.

Quite a few achieve 200bhp... quite easy... but were talking on both parties of the car not being street legal.
180bhp in a vtr lump, would mean regular rebuilds, a bore very close to the edge, and again not street legal.
Im going to be putting ph5 cams in my car once i have my daily drive, and with some nice big jp4 valves and a fully rebuilt head, i will be looking at the 200bhp mark.
for me, its about power to weight, and how much torque you have anyway.
when you going to ace cafe next? Im thinking of going next week if you and Alex fancy popping up again?

I've played with cammed Gti's and Cammed and bodied Gti's and the cammed and Bodied Gti i sat dead next to smiling at the guy (LeeDiabloGti) all the way up to twice legal speeds and he didn't pull an inch!! (and i was only running 145bhpish then due to faulty TPS overfuelling.)
??
Thats just after i come on cam and finish at 8300rpm.

All standard vtr's do...its easy to whack a vts engine in for around £400 all in these days so cost/power its more effective.
Its like saying a V6 is going to be better than a V12..its not....fact
This has been done to the death so all i'll say is congrats for being different.

Again I don't want to be the cause of arguments but there are way to many factors...
The main factor for me being this is an ideal car teaching myself good track driving...
And if you get a 180bhp saxo on track and can't drive for shit whereas I've got this but can drive it well then theres your answer...
It's just a pure 'fun' car to drive I had a smile on my face all weekend when i took an astra vxr in a pretty much standard 8v around brands lol..
And at the end of the day it's all about fun on track!
Sleight Update
Had a call from Colin with some good and some bad news...
Good news... It's started
Bad News: The throttle position sensor is naff, and as the bodies were also bought through Colin Satchell I need to find exactly what model GSXR they are from.
Sonny - you might be able to help with this as Colin said you had to replace your's aswell and I was wondering if you had any pics to see if it's the same as mine..?

oooh mate. Thats was not easy. I had to source one from Germany in the end via a local Bike shop. Cost £136.00!!!!!
Theres a few different types with different mounting points.
You need to know whether you got :
K1, K2, K3, K4 etc etc and what bike they came off i.e. 750, 1000, 1300 Hayabusa.
Also the 750 and 1000 bodies were the same K1, K2. I think the 1300 Hayabusa used the same TPS for a bit too. I think i bought a 1300 Hayabusa TPS in the end.
also if you have a picture of the TPS itself that would be good too. I think i have a Technical drawing of the one i have. I'll dig it out for ya.

Bollocks!!
I've sent Colin an email as i don't have a contact number so that's not really going to speed things up...and I only have the useless pics in this thread which are crap!
I know what it looks like though so if you can find that diagram that would be awesome!

Looks really good mate, can't wait to see this on the road now.
Disagree with the people saying 16v is much better. You can get decent power from the 8v engine an its always good to be different. I've seen 170-180bhp 8v's used in road rallies and they don't need rebuilding or anything, just the same as any other performance car such as a 16v on bodies. Ok, it did have a quaife gearset but oh my it shifted, more so than a 170bhp saxo on bodies I've been in - and even that had an s1 box.
Don't underestimate an 8v is all I'm saying as they can surprise quite a few people!

Sod that would rather a TB'd, cammed rallye over an RS any day of the year. FRS only has 203 bhp/tonne.

Well it would be a mk1 and a remap would soon sort that out.
RS is a far better car all round.
